No personal experience but if that's what you like I say go for it! Get it and have your local guitar shop set it up to play like butter and you should have a pretty decent axe for cheap. Ltd is known for having solid guitars all the way down to the lowest end of their line. Definitely post pics when you get her!

I own a LTD M-15 ,which is a Guitar Center exclusive and I believe cost $150.00 when they were being sold. I got mine for only $80.00 used and it's a killer sounding guitar. Just recently, I had the chance to try out a used LTD Viper 50 with the Transparent Black finish, at the same GC that I bought my LTD M-15 at , and it's simply a monster which I'm going to get to add to my arsenal. Why am I telling you this? Because it's the same thing as the EC-50 as far as the pickups and the electronics are concerned, and for $200.00, which is what the EC-50's go for, IMO you won't find a better sounding guitar in that price range.

I'd say go for it. I have an EMG 85 in mine and it slays, although it's the agathis version, which is a very flat sounding wood. Basswood is supposed to be midrangey. DiMarzio Steve's Specials or Super 3s would probably slay in it.
