emg 85 in bridge and 60 in neck on h-400?

so what do you guys think of that? i hear a lot of ppl saying that emg 85 sounds better in the bridge, but everybody says to put an 81 or 85 in the neck....did anyone try putting on a 60 in the neck? i mean all the eclipses have a 60 in the neck but no one tried it on a horizon? is there a reason? thanks

I'm gonna be doing a shotout of the 85 and 81 in the bridge of my Ibanez SZ (mahogany body, maple top, mahogany neck) in a few days once I get my EMG's wired up.

@gfunk
But why is it (as you say)'ghey'? Does it look bad?, sound bad?, taste bad? What would you recommend to the OP, and why? He needs help here.

I recommend:
Both the 85(b) and 81(b) pair well with the 60(n). Try it out. If you like the sound...keep it. If you are going for more of a 'classic tone', the 60 will be a better choice as it isn't as harsh. In all honesty..skip the EMG's...use Blackouts!

85 in the bridge and 60 in the neck will sound great! do it.. i have a korean F-100 with 81/85, i ended up switching them around because the 85 sounds very badass in the bridge. Very full ,warm and punchy, mid-brightness, rather than a 81 which is just very bright and piercing... on the down side, because the 85 is very full in the bridge it will be harder to hear all notes when playing full chords with distortion... but power chords will sound... down right powerfull! and as far as the 60 goes, yeah put it in the neck you wont be sorry!

blackouts are brighter... EMGs are darker... I prefer EMGs.

Plus blackouts are also have more hum and feedback. I have one guitar with them, I like the guitar and they sound good, but I probably won't get another set.

60 in the neck will get you cleaner, brighter cleans. 85 is warmer and is by far better for a metal/shred setup. I tried all the combinations of 81, 85, and 60 and reverted to the ZW setup because I think it is simply the best. I might try 85b/89n in the future.

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/315457/newsongSSD.mp3 This is the sound that I get from the 85 in the bridge of my guitar. Sorry, no bass in that clip.

Personally, I really like the 81 in the neck for leads. I prefer it over the 85 by far, but that's just my opinion.

I'm still REALLY interested in trying the 60A.

I want to try an 85 in the bridge of my MII to see if it gives it some more punch and chunkiness to combat some of the brightness of the guitar
