I came across this ad on eBay and noticed it was for an ESP Custom explorer, now i noticed it is a bolt on, but weren't the only bolt on models the LTD versions?and the ESP versions weren't? It looks like its the LTD version with a ESP decal on it. Someone has already bid a grand on it...

Well i asked the guy whats up, and he said they didn't even make LTD before the lawsuit, which i think they did but im not sure, so that just made me wonder about whether or not its an LTD. I also can't think of who would specifically want a bolt on when forking that much money out for an esp custom hetfield style explorer, and he said its over 20 years old but it looks so much like the LTD mx's that were in catalogs in the 90s, not necessarily a custom order. I don't know , again i was just curious about it
It's the ESP "EXP" model offered up until around 2000.
Came in Black and Olympic White and they were bolt-on. They had the "Customshop" stamp on the headstock but they were standard production model guitars.
The LTD's were bolt-ons with the exception of the LTD EXP's that had trems on 'em. Those were set-neck I believe.
EDIT: Btw, the seller is blowing smoke up your ass.
There were plenty of LTD EXP's before the Gibson Lawsuit and that EXP in the photo is NOT 20 years old. I'd steer clear of this auction, never know what you're getting yourself into when you have a seller who doesn't even know his ass from his elbow.

Yep, they also made 'standard series' Horizons that said 'ESP Custom Guitars' and had bolt-on necks in that same era. Also, I don't know if it has always been this way, but most actual 'custom shop' stamps say 'ESP Custom Shop,' not 'ESP Custom Guitars.' Notice that EXP says 'ESP Custom Guitars,' just like my 1996 Horizon bolt-on standard.

It is a standard series EXP, bolt-on maple neck, rosebud board, mahogany body. The "ESP Custom Guitars logo" were used for both standard and custom guitars during the 90s. Like SYL said, the seller does NOT know what he is talking about.
edit:
its a custom fyi
Nope.

Yeah I've read a lot on the explorer school thread, theres alot of shit on there forgive me if i missed the part about bolt on explorers. The main point i was trying to get across was that the info he was giving me sounded like bullshit and thought i'd ask the pros on here to back me up lol, thanks for info guys
