Greetings,
Just bought myself an ESP Eclipse CTM vintage white, and was wondering..
Why are they called CTM? I know it stands for custom but, are they assembled in the Custom shop, or..are the parts made there, or is it just a marketing hoax(doubt it)?:|
Also, I've always had guitars with rosewood boards, and now I wanted something else, and this guitar has an ebony board.. What is the best maintenance for the board? Read here and there that I should use lemon oil, but how frequent?
That's about it. Can't want to hold this guitar, will be killer.. at least the price was :lol
Thanks for any answers!
Kind regards,
Chris.

Because it's based on a Les Paul custom?
I'm not sure was told that and i thought it made sense but it needs comfirmation.

You should oil the fingerboard 1-2 times a year, depending on how much you play.

i dunlop lemon oil every other string change and its mostly just a little dab, rub it in and your good!
and i have no clue why they call it CTM? Seems like you might be right about the hoax? are these standards or customs? It does make them sounds nice tho, and i do gas for a white one with the old black ahrdware

Carved Top Maple was one theory... Doesn't have to make THAT much sense, it's a Japanese company after all.

Clean your guitar when it's dirty is the answer. I don't think you can over clean something as long as you use the right products i doubt it'll affect the finnish.

No, I belive you told me so, and I never thought they were, I just thought that it might have been assembled in the custom shop, or just had its parts made there..
The ESP 2007 cataloc lists it as Eclipse custom, so CTM should be custom.. Because it's based on a Gibby LP Custom? Best guess/explanation so far and it makes sense.
EDIT: That's one hell of a nice eclipse there. Is it yours, or is it just a random picture of one? Very nice, none the less.

SD JB/Jazz...
I love the JB, sounds so wonderful in mahogany. Jazz is very good for cleans but I don't use it with distortion, too bassy IMHO. Also seen one just like mine with regular black open coil SDs, looked classy !
