Just a few questions for Alexi 600 owners.
-I was wondering if anyone knows why Alexi uses The Emg Hz? Has he ever given a reason as to why he chose HZ's over the 81's.
-If anyone who owns this guitar uses it stock or upgraded the pickup?
-Whats the difference between the ESP and Edwards Models...Who's Edwards?
-What the difference is between the MM04 boost that Alexi Uses and the PA2 that EMG offers. If there is any.

I must be honest. I was never a huge COB fan(although they are growing on me). I like Alexi's playing though, and his tone is pretty tight. I also like how simple his setup is. I love the simplicity of one pickup and one volume knob.
I have read many reviews of this guitar, and most have replaced the pickup. I must be in the minority because I personally think the EMGHZ4 sounds pretty fat and bassy. I was just wondering if any of you shared my thoughts on this. Or if you own this guitar, what your feelings of the actual tone are.

Thanks

he uses the passive cuz it works better with the gain knob which comes on all his sigs

my guess on y he used to use emg hz were cuz his old jacksons were jackson pickups. since he moved on to ESP he wanted a sound like the jackson pickups he used to had on his guitars and the closest things on the markets were the emg hz. mostly everyone who has the guitar has upgraded to active pickups.ESP is custom shop and edwards is a brand better than ltd's but not better than ESP's. edwards are from japan . dont know much bout the switches but the mm04 was custom made for alexi(i think) so he can more gain.the PA2 is good too but not with active pickups (too much feedback) but pretty good with passives (like the emg hz's)

His warm up guitar has an active in it actually. The passive pup probably just works better with his rig overall. plus it saves esp some dough on pickups for the sig.

The HZ's can be used without a battery, most obviously, but it's a reliability issue as well. If the battery craps out on the gain booster then the passive pickup will still work.

Here's how the order is according to Electric Sound

They aren't available to the US through ESP/LTD dealers but some places like Katana Guitars and ikebe-gakki are great dealers. And everyone and their mom get good service from ishibashi.
I know a quite a few Edwards owners that say that their Edwards is just as good as their ESP counterparts.

If you are going for an Alexi then go for the Edwards. Better than the LTD and just about the same price.
