View Full Version : The ESP Explorer lawsuit...

So Gibson sued ESP for making the Explorer.
But what I want to know is...
People always talk about that ESP is not allowed to build them in America anymore.
But what about Europe?
I live in Europe but you can't get them here either. The only chance is Japan it seems.
Buying one used over here is hell. People ask way too much for their guitars. A couple of times a year an EXP-200 surfaces here and they always ask around fucking €800 for them! That's around $1100 I believe. I ain't gonna pay that much for the lowest end model in the series. :x

As far as I know you can only get them "officially" in Japan.

Yeah, so that's why I made the thread: How's this arranged for Europe?
My guess they aren't allowed to build them in Europe either because you can't find them anywhere.
So this means that they're ONLY allowed to make them in Japan? ESP's home country. Pretty cool that Gibson could not entirely stop them from making them.

No,officially
No, unofficially 8o
They're not a subject that is too popular in Japan for that matter, when's the last time you saw an MX in any ESP domestic catalogue?

I think they are unavailable to order in the UK as the Gibson Copyright applies.

They don't make the EXP shape as a production line at all, anymore, anywhere. You can order the shape from the custom shop anywhere but the US.

No, you can't order it everywhere from the Custom Shop.

Then why are there still appearing new ones on ebay then?

Dood, you are making this more difficult than it is. No, you cannot technically order one in Europe. The MXs are only available for the domestic Japanese market. The new ones on ebay are from domestic Japanese dealers that list them on US ebay. Unless you have connections in Japan, ebay is the best way to purchase an MX.
