It's been made several times before. But who cares?

Ernie Ball Slinky (9's and 10's) are my favorites for my electrics. I don't play acoustic very often, so I don't have a real preference there.

Recently tried some SIT Power Steel 10-52's. Best strings I have ever used hands down. Tight low end and very smooth sounding. They don't have that "tinny" new string sound that I hate. I have a very agressive picking hand and pretty radical vibrato and these babies have held there tune like no other string I have ever tried in the past 17 years. Love em and I plan to keep using them. 3 packs on ebay shipped for about $14.

Without a doubt, Ernie Ball. I love the 10-46 for D standard. They feel perfect, and sound great. They also stey slick, and corrosion is very slow on them.

once in a while I use Elixirs 11-48(?) but lately I've been using Black Diamond 11-50s for standard E, D, and C tunings
they're pretty good, a good tone, good feel

I play with super heavy strings. I usually prefer D'addarios and It goes from 70 on the Low side to 12 on the high side. Usually tuned D-Standard or Lower. Right now I am in C-Standard.

I use DR High Voltage strings. I used to use Ernie Balls, but they never last for me. Elixirs and DR are the best I've used. Now that I think about it, I liked my Elixers more than the DR's I. Time to switch back I suppose.

D'addarios, purely for the vacuum seal and colour-coded ball ends...

...nah, they sound and feel nice too :p

But on a serious note, I've played Ernie Balls and not noticed that big a difference, although they broke sooner than my D'adds do. Nevertheless, that could be due to other factors. Only strings I've tried that I didn't like were Rotosound, they just didn't feel very nice at all.

I use D'Addario, and I could be wrong but I think they are the only string company that prestretches the wire till it breaks to help eliminate weak points along the string. Plus the vacuum seal, etc, they hold themselves to higher standards than other companies. Either way I don't care but everyone is going to prefer different strings for different reasons.

daddario exp phosphor bronze custom lights on my acoustic.. haven't found an electric string that i can't live without, but i usually get daddario xl 10-46's or hybrid slinky's... most recently tried DR extra life electric strings.. they're ok but the coating wears off too easily.. kind of sound deadened i find..

I find D'Addario more conisistent and use them (9-42) on my USA DFH and (10-46) on my Gibby Zakk.

For the KH and Hanny, I use custom gauged Ernie Ball sets:

Hanny gets a set of Beefy Slinkys with the plain 22 swapped for a wound 22 and the 54 replaced with a 56.

KH gets a set of Not Even Slinkys with the 12 replaced with an 11 and the 16 with a 14.

GHS 10/60 and (a mix of 12/52 and 10/60) : 12/60

I tried Ernie Ball wich sounds great but each time 2 or 3 strings broke on every set .
Dean markley nickel steel signature are great too . Blue steel are sh** .

Skull strings (11/58) last long as hell but E A and D strings are rough .

SIT strings that came stock on my Ninja were great too .

D'addario. All of them.

The standard strings I always go back to for electric are D'Addarrio nickel wound .0105 - 48's. However, I use different strings for different guitars, because I have different uses for all my guitars.

All my gauges are basically the same, either 10 - 48's, .0105 - 48's, 11 - 48's or 11 - 49's. Anything lighter than that and I can't really stand the feel or the tone.

For my ESP I use Everly B-52's Alloy (11-48)
These are very long lasting, very high sustain, highly magnetic and responsive and best of all they sound wonderful. Awesome for metal.

For my Ibanez RG570, I use D'Addario nickel wounds.
These are great all around consistent strings, pretty standard, but an old standby that never fails.

For my Ibanez jetking II, I use D'Addario half wounds (11 - 49)
Nice smooth feel, hex core but with smooth semi-flat surface. They have a little less brightness compared to regular nickel wound, but not as warm as flat wound. Sounds great with fuzz and stoner rock/doom sounding styles.

For my variax, I am using D'addario flatwounds. (10 - 48's)
These work great with the variax. perhaps it's because of the extra good contact with the bridge pickup, I don't know. Also, since I mostly use it for jazzier tones, the flatwounds really add that extra bit of authenticity when playing the hollow body models, which is what I use the most on the variax. Although it works great for fender strat and acoustic models as well. But I wouldn't recommend it for metal.

My Yamaha acoustic, I use Thomastik-Infeld BRASS Plectrum's. (11 - 50)
These strings are on the pricey side, but they are so very awesome. Lower tension on the bottom end, nice and easy to bend, but still thick enough to get good tone. The plain strings are brass coated steal, so all the strings are that brass color. The A, D and G strings are polished flatwound, but the low E is polished bronze roundwound. They are high end strings, but worth every penny. They sound great, perfect IMO.

On my other acoustic, my ibanez, I use Cleartone's. (10 - 47)
These are the best coated strings you can buy. Although you pay for it. These make other coated strings look silly. They feel and sound just like regular bronze strings, but you don't get any of that coating stuff rubbing off. I don't know how they do it, but the coating it's self is micro-treated. It's so thin you can't even tell it's there, except for the fact that they last a long ass time. This is the guitar I pick up the most, so that is why I use these strings on it.

Thats pretty much it! All-in-all, I think strings are often overlooked by players as being a super important part of tone, but if you have ever played on a real nice set of strings, you can hear the difference. You get what you pay for!

i think D'adario is not a great brand of strings and I mean for every strings. they are just standard string with a normal feel. ernieball is a little bit better. but the very best is Elixir Polyweb's string. I really like the feeling and the "no scratching noise" featur. or if u want to have the same feeling but with more scratching tone u get the Nanoweb's one. and they are not quite expensive (like those 20$ acoustic string.. but hey... IT WORTH IT!). only like 10$ for a pack and they Last very long. so u just kinda .... save 4$ more for 5 time better quality :)

Riff Master Mike

For straight D and dropped C I use a custom gauge 13-54 set made by Rogue(formerly SIT). You buy them in bulk from Musician's Friend. You order a single package containing 12 13's and they come shipped in a loosely coiled plastic bag. You order each string that way so you can get what you want. My G string is an unwound 22. It's pretty heavy to bend, but I don't do much lead stuff.

In standard E and dropped D I use 11-52 D'Addarios.

Dean Markley Blue Steels, all the way. While I do love D'Addario and sometimes Elixir, 90% of the time it's the Blue Steels. They feel great, last long, and have a warmer sound to them, which is great because I play a lot of jazz and general clean stuff.

For my acoustics, Martin strings. Simply the best acoustic strings ever made.

I just put on a new set of EB .11's last night, and so far I'm loving them. First experience with anything higher than ten's, and I'm really appreciating them.
