Im thinking of getting the ESP LTD EC-1000 deluxe. I have been looking at the reviews of them and they are all over the place. Some people say the strings are coming out of the saddle grove, doesnt ever stay in tune, pieces are falling off...etc, yet the majority of people say its a great guitar. If it werent for these bad reviews I would buy it in a second..I love the look and shape of it. Im also looking into buying the washburn idol wi66, which I havnt heard many complaints about at all. Would that be a better option, or is the ESP a better guitar?

Every product is going to have good and bad reviews. the ec-1000 is one of the most (if not THE most) popular guitars esp makes. of course the esp version is going to be higher quality but it is going to cost more. personal preference, also one has 22 frets one has 24 frets. but if you're asking if its worth it? HELL YEAH!

I know many people off on this board (me included) who has an EC-1k and loved it. I'm not a big fan of the 24.75 scale length but apart from that I can't put one fault on this guitar.
(I lie, Abalone)
From experience, I'd say they are pretty decent axes (look at the spec list - good quality parts / hardware). However, access to the 23 / 24 frets are difficult on the EC 1000 which is why I don't have mine anymore. I knew that when I bought mine but could not get over so had to return it. I like the 2-octave scale and want to be able to use those frets if they are there.
Yeah - I went back and forth on the abalone - but finally made peace with it and it kind of grew on me I guess. I don't mind it like I used to and actually think the LTD Deluxes look very unique with it (but I'd have been just fine without it being part of the model). Hence why I am looking to get an M-II.

I'm very happy with my Ec-1k VB. The 24.75 scale is a bit small at first, but you get used to it. The only problem with my guitar is that the bridge and volume pots are starting to rust, after 5 months... I dont know if this is normal, I always clean my guitar...

The Ec-1000 is one fo if not the best value for the money guitars yu can get. You get so much guitar for what you pay. It is definately worth it.

I'm Getting Ready To Buy A Second Ec-1000 For Drop Tunings On Stage. I'm A Lefty And I Was Thinking Of Going For The ESP But What Is Better About The 22 Frets Model? Will It Be Able To Tune Down To D Standard/Drop C?? Thanks.

You have to realize that there are quite a number of immature people in the world who file a 'review' because they are trying to 'beat down' a guitar that they don't have. It's just a fact.

They are awesome guitars, I have 2 but I definitely agree with the saddle problem. On both of them, my low E string and occasionally my A or D string (not often) come out of the saddle when I'm playing live. I've adjusted my playing now and it doesn't happen much tho.
Also, both the strap pins came out on one but again, this is due to extreme conditions of gigging.
Still AWESOME guitars, that play brilliantly and sound freaking great.

Its a good guitar for sure but you still may be better off buying a used esp eclipse. It will cost a little bit more then the 1000 but its such a better quality and sounding guitar.

Thanks for the help. I would love an eclipse but i would only get one if i could find one for a great deal and in decent condition so ill probably end up going the ec-1000.
