I have already done the modifications but i cant figure what the string height (off the 12 fret) should be for 12-52 gauge strings.i have a ex50.ive been playin for 4 years and still cant figure out what the height is exactly.right now the height is 3mm off bass side and 2mm off of treble i think the action is to high and its harder to play but any lower and it starts to buzz.any ideas.the reason why is because i tune whole step down.

u put heavy .10s on...get a setup before u fuck ur neck to hell, string height does matter but u need a truss rod adjustment to cope with the tension change

I already got that done I took it to a shop around where i live and they did it for me.But they never told me what height it needs to be so i tried figuring out what the height it was but cant find the exact.Trust me the mods are done,my ex is 3 years old and ive been putin thicker strings on it for 2 years since i made the specifications for it.Nothings wrong with it but the high action makes it alittle harder to play. i was just wondering if there is a correct action it needs to be in.

alright dude my last post came off me sounding like a real tool so my bad, what u should do is after adjusting the action height get the neck re adjusted...my viper had that problem so my buddy..the tech at my local store....moved the action then re adjusted the truss rod, i dont belive there is a specific height on the bridge just get it to the height u like

You adjust your relief first, then your action, it works better that way...
Just hold on to the first and last fret, and see whether there is a gap between the strings and frets...
If there isn't, then you need to turn the truss rod anticlockwise, quarter of a turn at a time, tune up, then check again. You may also prefer to adjust the truss rod to your liking, some people prefer different amounts of relief...
Then, adjust your action by raising or lowering the height of your bridge, after which you are satisfied, adjust your intonation by moving the saddles back if the pitch is too sharp when you pluck the note on the 12th fret, and vice versa...

that stuffs all good.I took it back and fitted it to my liking.it took about hours but i got it down.I ask them what should be the best height for the strings and they said about 2.7 mm on bass and 2mm on treble but i said fuck it cause i dont have a good measuring tool so i did the best i could and put it where its almost 3mm but not quite though but its alot comfort now the action feels good and theres no buzzing so its nice. Thanks for the help. Now i can lay out some heavy shit and feel good about it.

yea if u wanna stop the buzz give the truss rod a tighten, very little turn to just get things back due to weather and so on

two my guitars have floyd roses... i like to play with super low action - since i can play much cleaner and faster that way - awesome for sweep picking... i set it up at arround 1.2mm on one guitar and 1mm on the other. The way i do it is first i tighten the truss rod to the maximum clockwise. Then I adjust the floyd height to the maximum until it starts to buzz when i make pulls with whammy bar fretting strings on 12th fret and on. I get 1-1.2 mm out of doing it this way. I don't know if it's the right way to do it, but it works for me. Let me know if I do it wrong.
