I'm thinking of swapping out the licensed trem in my ltd m302, I know that an OFR will fit, but will a floyd rose speedloader fit? or the schaller floyd rose? I dont know if the routing is the same for all 3 tremolos? I'm thinking the schaller one, because I hear schaller makes better floyd roses than Floyd Rose themselves

Im not too big on trems, but Origianal Floyd is the way to go in my opinion. They stay in tune better.

Ive heard some say OFR is best ive heard some people say Schaller makes it better, i dont know what to believe

not sure about the schaller, but you dont want to worry with the speedloader.
the tuning system is completely different and youll go nuts over how gay the guitar works even if you do get it to work

I have both the OFRs and Schaller LFRs, and they all play great...
Not to mention a lot of OFR replacement parts are Schaller made ones, not to mention Gotohs of course...
None the less, the Schaller sounds a tad warmer cause they use diecast metal for the Floyd unit, and the OFRs use steel I think...
You can't go wrong with either one really...

But the Schaller fits the same tremolo routing as the OFR? Does anyone know which is harder? The diecast Schaller or steel OFR? Harder the metal the slower the knife edges will wear down.

OFR and Schaller routes are different. A Schaller usually fits in the OFR route, but an OFR will not fit in the Schaller route (the string lock bolts are longer on an OFR and will not clear the trem route). :)
A word of caution: I once tried replacing my MH301 factory-installed no-brand LFR and could not find any name brand Floyd that would fit. The trem plate sides would not clear the MH301 trem route  .........
Longevity and durability wise OFR and Schaller should be about the same. Schaller factory builds the OFRs................

Schaller OFR's ahve shorter bolts so you wouldnt be able to fit a gotoh FR or OFR wouldnt fit in a Schaller specific Route..
I'd reccomend a Gotoh FR as good as an OFR but has a brass trem block like the Original Floyds

Aren't OFR's built by Schaller?

Schaller Fr's They do also make the OFR, allthough the FR has a different sustain block and baseplate, those two and the gotoh trems are the easiest and best retroifits you can use...
I'd personally go for the Gotoh trouble is youll need to have the backplate off and shim the saddles to match the fretboard if its not a 12in radius...
You can get shims and the Gotoh FR from allparts.com...
Along with the Schaller Floyd the OFR I would only suggest getting them from Warmoth as Ed Roman went out of business allthough they were slightly cheaper than Warmoth you probably wouldnt have wanted to speak to one of thier employees.

See my answer from an earlier post, repeated below. MH301 factory trem is same as the MH250, so your friend might have the same side interference issue that I had. It would be best for your friend to either buy the new trem from a place that will take it back if it doesn't fit, or to take his guitar to a shop that will have open box trem samples available to try on his guitar for fit, before he buys it. Good luck! :)

both aren't options for him as we are located in Poland and we wanted to order Floyd in USA.

The Schaller only has steel inserts where the pivot point is, very close in construction an Ibanez Edge. The whole OFR is steel. Both are Schaller made. Some of the most die hard floyd users will either go with an OFR or Edge. Not to say that a Schaller or Gotoh aren't excellent trems, cause they are. I mean, EVH used those Gotoh's on his Music Man's for years. If they were a lot cheaper then I'd say one of those. But the OFR is priced so close, why not just get the real deal? Btw, I did a successful drop-in swap on my M-400 to an OFR, from Warmoth.

I find the Schaller has a different feel than the OFRs, they also have more travel as in being able to be pushed down or pulled up more than OFRs...
