First ESP, please help

Hey all,

I have a line on a custom eclipse from someone in the area.

It is a goldtop with a maple bolt-on neck.

The serial that is on it, starts with 31 and there are no letters before the serial. The owner is the second owner and thinks it was made in the late 90's.

Is this a genuine article?

Yeah that's the real deal. Definitely from the mid to late 90's... most of the Eclipse guitars had bolt on necks, some had tune-o-matic bridges, others had Floyd Rose trems. Great guitars, they're on ebay all the time. Congrats and welcome to the board man.

I have no picked the guitar up yet, I am kind of in the middle of negotiating at the moment.

Just debating if it is worth the cost. The other party wants my PRS singlecut Se + $350 for the eclipse.

When he listed it though, it was written that it was a custom shop, which it aint. Still looks like a nice guitar, but I was thinking there was something really rare about it at first. Now I can see they are fairly common.

That is exactly what I said.

The PRS is in perfect condition, upgraded with the U.S., low-mass 18:1 locking tuners and a JB/ seth lover combo.

He wouldn't budge on the price so I had to let it go.

The search continues!

Yeah I seem to notice alot of those 90s Eclipses on ebay lately, Im not that fond of the look of them vs the newer ones oh and I love how they all list them as "custom" because it has the "custom guitars" stamp on the back

Here are my two current PRSi, a 2005 standard 22 and my singlecut SE. Oh, as a side note, I have an atomic 112 and a pod x3 now.

Good call on letting that one pass. I've played 3 of those Eclipses from the 90's (all gold coincidentally) and every one of them was horrible. One sat in the local shop here for a year and the shop ended up selling it on ebay for $1200.
