I don't frequent the other area too much so I thought I'd drop it here and wish all the Custom owners a happy Turkey day. (Or tofu I guess for you "other" kinds)...

turkeys dont fly.

Actually wild turkeys can.

Farmed turkeys could too if their wings weren't clipped.

Anyways, happy turkey to everyone.

I hardly pull that guitar outta its case lately. The camo one sounds so much better...lol That's why I dropped all the ideas for maple-capped V's from the CS. I had the same problem with the DV8SE. It just sounded sterile to me. :(

a friend of mine...that's a number of things. Someone that actually knows me, or someone saying they knew me? Or someone I fired? lol...

Who was it? And why wierd?

I actually enjoy these stories usually because it gets all dramatic and I don't remember for the life of me who these people are...says you are in northern ca. That's a poor start there as it is...lol I don't know anyone up there I don't think. But now I'm curious...lol I hear alot of things from people that say someone knows me and usually the person is full of shit.

There was a guy named Robert that came to one of my gigs who told me that I hit him in the head with a biscuit somehow at a party and that I never apologized. I didn't recall said party, and don't really recall throwing any food at anyone. lol...

true as that may be, I'm hopeful that one day I will magically discover the right pickup combo to make that guitar work. It manages to kill all the life in the usual suspects that i use... So far it's been EMG'd, gone back to Duncans, and had JB's, Jazzes, Screamin' Demons, Distortions, and lord knows what the fuck else... It's been wired with 500k's, 1megs, different caps. It's been tried in several tunings, and really the thing is just too stiff with that top. So far, it's at the best it's ever been right now, which is with plain G 12's tuned down to C.

That guitar, so far is only good for one thing and that's that cold trebly Pantera sound. That super bright almost sizzly tone.

The mahogany UC is far warmer, has a trem, and has just been absolutely wonderful. That the neck being so comfy for me, makes it my number one. At least for show applications. The Egyptian one still had the old DV8 neck spec, which was fine till i tried the other shape...lol

That said, it's the first guitar I've had made for me with my name on the 'stock, and it has a neat background, so even if it no longer makes it into rotation, it'll look nice on my wall.

have you tried dimarzio's nileguy?

try a air norton - tonezone combo it might work to fatten up the tone

Yeah, i have had alot of DiMarzios over the years and just don't feel that either of those are gonna happen either. I have TZ's in my PGM and the AN in my Petrucci...they're not the tones I'm looking for in the V.

It's the guitar's lack of resonance more than anything, not the pickups.
