I have an EC-500 and I want to make it into standard C tuning. (From C to C). What kind of strings should I get for this? Also is it okay if I just buy the strings and change them into new ones or should I bring the guitar to a technician for the adjustments. I know about what to adjust in a floyd rose tremolo lock system but this guitar is set-neck so I don't know about adjusting them.

OK, firstly, it doesn't matter what kind of neck joint you have as to what adjustments to make.
OK, seeing as (I'm assuming) it's a stoptail bridge, there shouldn't be many, if any, adjustments to be made. You just basically need to restring it, and maybe make some adjustments to your intonation, which doesn't make a major difference.
As with string gauges, I use GHS Boomers 10-46 and they seem fine to me. You can get the Zakk Wylde set, which is 10-60, as he tunes to Drop C, or 11-53 may be OK, as the set I use is a little flappy for some people that have played my guitar.

I think that the Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky's (11-54) are perfect for drop C tuning. They got good tension, but not too much. I would always have a repairman set up your guitar for lower tunings. Hope this helps!:)

Thought the original question was abt C Std tuning.
I do use Beefy Slinky (11-54) for C Std on a 25.5in scale guitar with FR. Seems fine.

I use 12-56 for drop B. You might want to try.
Just play around with different gauges and see which feels most natural.

Thanks for the advice. Do I really need to take guitar to a technician for the truss rod adjustment? I don't think there are many good technicians around here... I was kinda confused by KH's link.

I really would take the guitar to a technician. Unless you know how to adjust the neck using the truss rod, I would take it in. Your insured a professional job if you do. There has to be at least one good tech in your area:)

Dude, 10-46 for C standard  I use Boomers 10-46 for swapping between E standart and D standard, cause I only have 1 good guitar (Ec-1k) atm...
I guess 11-56 would be the way to go

^^^^^^^^^^ Yup.....I use 11-56 for C standard tuning and it feels like a set of 10's in standard as far as tension goes...to me anyways.
