View Full Version : Standard Series Viper Truss Rod Issue
When recently setting up my ESP Standard series viper, I noticed that the truss rod seemed alot stiffer than on my gibsons. On my gibsons the truss rod is very easy to loosen or tighten, on the Esp it's quite a bit stiffer. I just wanted to know if the standard series vipers have tighter truss rods.

The truss rod still turns no problem though right? They are a little stiff, but shouldn't stop you turning it at all.

Yeah, as long as it isn't fingertight, you should be fine...
The truss rod seems to work fine. But when tightening or loosening it, I have to use quite a bit more force than on my gibson's and my PRS. It functions fine though. This is my first ESP and I just wanted to find out if this is normal for ESP's.

That sounds normal to me. If anything I'd be a little more concerned about the Gibsons, but I never messed with the Gibsons truss rods. I don't think theres anything to worry about. How much force are you talking about?
