I just got a new KH2 Vintage and the headstock reads "ESP custom shop". I've seen some relics with the more usual stamp of "ESP Custom Guitars"...is one better/more valuable than the other?

thanks!

Yes cause there are only 100 relics made.

The KH 2 Relics were the first 100 guitars, numbered 000 to 100. 000 to possibly 005 were never available for sale. Although, the actual number of guitars withheld from the public is debatable. ESP's intention was to offer a limited run of KH 2 Relics, including both a Custom Shop COA and a COA with Kirk Hammett's actual signature of approval. However, the latter of the run were only sold with Kirk's signature COA. I owned 091 and didn't receive the generic Custom Shop COA. Some members here with low numbered Relics do have both COA's.

Due to the success of the model, despite taking three years to sell out, the Vintage was offered as a high-end, Custom shop "production model". Though the build quality is identical, the value of the Relic will appreciate greatly over the Vintage, due to the small amount.

* The Relic's serial numbers were not preceded with the Custom Shop signatures, KH or SS. Exclusively numerical classification.

#2 was for sale at the local ESP dealer. I saw it. he sold it to a guy that used to post here for a ridiculous amount. He still has #14 I believe, because he wants full retail for it.

Well, I got a toally sweet deal on the brand new vintage so I cant complain either way! This guitar plays like a dream...so if they both play identical (relic/vintage), then I'm satisfied!
