NEW! - Alexi Laiho Signature Pickup Set
EMG has released The ALX with ABQ EQ/Boost - the new Alexi Laiho signature model. This is a newly designed EMG passive model - custom wound - and includes the new ABQ EQ/Boost which features a push (to activate) / pull (to deactivate) control. The ABQ has a 3 band EQ which can be adjusted for creating different tone settings. The boost output can be adjusted as well to add or subtract gain.
After extensive discussion with Alexi, EMG’s founder, Rob Turner, created a set that was exactly what a true innovator in the world of heavy music was looking for. “This pickup and preamp combo meets Alexi’s demands for something unique that includes high gain, solid tone and clarity to enhance his remarkable style”
Now, in one package, a player can get all the reliability and innovation that EMG is renowned for, and all the aggressive guitar tone that Alexi is so well known for. The set is available in a Floyd Rose version (F-ALX) and a standard Tuneamatic version (ALX).
The EMG-ALX with ABQ EQ/Boost is only available at Authorized EMG dealers.

neat...
Sure wish Rob would take the stick outta his ass and make a fucking 7-string housing for his SA's...preferrably one that doesn't require you to route a chunk out of you guitar and permanently alter it.

he missed out on some sales man...lol Back when it was popular to have a Universe, we did so many installations of 707's and stuff, but only in the 2-hum RG's because nobody wanted to stuff all the PA2 stuff in to make their single work or chop up even more of their bodies to put in another pickup. Especially those who didn't know if they actually wanted it or would like it. It was often a deal breaker...
I love Rob, and James. But we got bitched at so often about it...lol

If you look at any of Alexi's current guitars, including the ones for sale on the ESP USA and Japan sites, his gain booster is a toggle switch, not a knob.
Is he switching to a push-pull, cause a toggle seems much quicker than having to grasp a knob and pull.

Doesn't he use the boost like all of the time?
I wonder why they didn't just built a pre-amp in the pickup and made it active... I guess he's still gonna be using the MM-4 or whatever his pre-amp is now.

Wondering the same thing. Personally, I've always thought of the HZs as EMG's answer to "Duncan Designed" pickups. As in, yeah we designed them, but don't get your hopes up.

It's not really a set if it comes with one pick up!

I think EMG's answer to the Duncan Designed are the EMG Select. But yeah, every single bridge HZ that i've played has been 'meh' at best.
I kinda dig the H1 in the neck.... although, not nearly as much as the 60

The EMG select pickups came out years before the Duncan Designed.

But there is something wrong guys, on cobhc.com it says (on Alexi's equipment part) he use Seymour Duncan??
Equipment
ESP guitars, Seymour Duncan pickups, Lee Jackson pre amps, VHT power amps, DR strings, Dunlop picks

No matter what they do to it, it's still an HZ. Glad it works for him, but thats a no go for me.

isn't the pickup just an H-2 floyd spaced pickup?
if so, I played one of those in one of the "jackson stars japan" King V's and it had the afterburner installed in it too. I actually liked the way it sounded, but it's not my favorite by any means.
