I just bought an ESP Eclipse 2 Standard w EMGs' It has Four Gibson top hat style knobs 2 tone and 2 volume for each pick up. I noticed many other guitars of the same name only have 3 stainless knobs. What is the difference, and why do they have the same name?

^^You just bought the right one!!;) The one you have is the lawsuit version(Gibson doing what they do best), so...4 knobs FTW!

Feel free to show us some pics of your new axe!

The forth knob, or as you say kob, is the talent pot.

I usually leave that one on 10.

OK, This is some kind of a collectors item or something. I just got it the other day , took off all the strings with tender care, (which where pitted and abrasive after hanging on a wall for two years), and am about to restring with my beloved DiAddarios, even more gingerly. Case in point, I am afraid to play the damn thing ! I always wanted an ESP so when I went into this little store in MO and saw one hanging in the corner of a little mom and pop country western type store covered in dust, I asked about it. They said they had it for over a year and no one in the Country Twang field has ever expressed any interest. They said they wanted to get rid of it and would give it away cheap so I looked it over, Mint. I asked about layaway and 4 months later I have it. I will upload some pics of it next week, I don't have a digital so I have to go buy one of those cardboard cameras and get Walmart to put it on a disk file. Now i'm afraid to play the damn thing even more. Back to my LTD I guess. Let me know more about the law suit n stuff anyone who knows and i'll work on getting the pics up ASAP:\
Thanks MJY

I don't understand this thread... the guy says he has an Eclipse II with 4 knobs... while that's one of the things they changed when making the Eclipse II. It's probably just an Eclipse I CTM, are those supposed to be really rare or something? I thought they were kinda easy to find, you see them on eBay quite often..

Its me.... no pic guy, they are coming though. I have also looked on e-bay and have seen the pre law suit axes for reasonable prices. I did buy mine new from a store, dont know if that matters caus' now if I sell it it sells as used. I guess they will be sought after in the future. I know I liked having the tone and volume of both pickups just due too my music style being kind of dynamic. I am still trying to get the L/D on this guitar myself.

Eclipse 1 CTMs (which is what you have) are still available outside of the U.S. They just can't be sold within the U.S. anymore (thanks to gibson).
