View Full Version : My first ESP guitar, could use some info on it...=)

Hey everybody,

I just recently bought a second-hand ESP the Mirage. I have no knowledge about ESP guitars at all, so I have no idea what the exact model is, or what year it was built. Neither do I have any idea about what it's worth. I paid about 120 dollars for it. I tried searching additional info on the internet, but I couldn't find this model anywhere. Thought I'd give it a try on this forum. :)

The guitar has a strat shaped body, is equipped with two EMG covered humbuckers, and with a Floyd Rose tremelo. It has a slightly different shaped headstock than most ESP guitars I came across. The serial number is 11930. It is located on the bolt on screwed neck plate. The serial number has "ESP" above it.

that's a floyd rose trem? ... is it the speed loader thingy?

If its not, I don't think its a floyd.

Any picks of the back of the headstock, the front of the head stock and the neck join might be useful ;)

what are those things on the pickups? it looks kinda strange

is it tape to stop the string from getting stuck on the pickup?

it doesnt look to me like a floyd or a emg pickups plus the price u payed...120 dollars for an ESP...that seems fishy...

That's a really old school Mirage, around 1983-1985. The tip of those headstocks are a bit different than the ones that came on the later 400/Traditional series. That looks sort of like a Rockinger trem on there, but it's hard to tell from. ESP used the Rockinger for a short time in the early 80's. The neck plate you described is also correct for that time era. It's a legit guitar and for $120, you made out well.

gay its a single locking trem . they suck worse than licensed double locking trems :(
