Just tried the AD50VT and I was very impressed with what I heard. Even more impressed when I saw the price. I'm definately going for a high-gain sound (teh m3tAllizoZ ftw). What other VOX amps should I look into?

Vox AC30 is a good start...
But I don't see how it would be a "metal" amp so to speak...

I was looking to get one of the higher end 100w+ Valvetronix amps. The 50 sounded like it could do metal decently but the metallica thing was more of a joke. I want versatility, but I do play mostly metal. Which valvetronix amp has all the factory presents and has stomp box effects built in. I'm having a hard time finding it on their site :(

Fuck those Valvetronix, as I give up on them. Check Harmony Central reviews for horror stories, much like mine.
AC30 and the AC50/100CPH is the cream of the crop.

Ya, I saw, But I'm willing to take my chances. I got a 700ish dollar budget and I only play in my bedroom or with a dummer and another guitarist so it's not like I'm a road warrior. It will see very little travel. I can't get over how much I loved that amp I tried and I only played on it for 15 mins. The price on the AD50VT was only 329 too. Do you guys know how much a AD120VTX goes for?

I'm trading my AD50VT in for a Line 6 Flextone III XL because it's no where nearly loud enough. It's a good amp, and you can get some pretty heavy distortion out of it and some of the best clean tones that I've heard. I am thinking about trying a Vox Valvetronix XL though.

Ya, it sucks that it's the one with stompbox effect built in. I might just get a AD100VT xl and buy a 10 band eq for some boost.
Noob question: since the power amp is tube, would a tube screamer or any tube overdrive pedal work well with it? If not, recommendations are welcome :)

There are some really experienced VOX ADxxVT guys at the Valvetronix forum who might be to answer that question:

I like how Soufly digs the Valvetronix so much, and all of a sudden hates them... :lol :p

I was sampling small practice amps today (15w) and the Vox AD15VT was VERY impressive.
The Line 6 Spider (not sure model number, but $99) was decent but the sound quality wasnt nearly as good. Someone suggested a Crate 15rfx(think thats right). well, for $49 I guess I heard what I should expect. Cant believe its MSRP was $249.
The overall opinion I hear from this forum is VOX or CUBE for small amps and I completely agree.

Have the AD60vtx and I love it. Its about 2 years old and I have never had any quality problems.
IMO, it is the best amp for playing at low volume levels.
The only issue I can think of is price, it wasn't cheap. It was 800 without any footpedal, which I woud think hard about. For the money, and if volume isn't an issue, you have a lot of other options.
For the money, may want to really consider the 50vt, especially if all of the effects are not as big an issue (they aren't for me).
