Identify my ESP!

I've had this Horizon for awhile. Really don't know much about it, bought it used. The body apears to be mahogony with a maple top. Natural maple body binding. Maple neck with what apears to be an ebony board. Sperzel locking tuners. Appears to be a graphite nut. ESP Custom logo with round ESP logo on reverse of headstock. "Horizon" inlay at 12th fret. SD 59B neck, SD JB bridge. Master volume and tone, three-way pup selector. The pots have no markings on the back. Gotoh bridge and tailpiece. Is this indeed a Custom Shop ESP or is it a production model? Can anyone hazard a guess as to the guitar's vintage?

I've owned many superstrats (Jackson, Charvel, Hamer, BC Rich, Musicman and Zion) and this is the nicest playing/sounding of the bunch. Any info is appreciated!

I believe (I may be wrong) the Logo on the reverse signifies Custom Shop.

some of the older ESPs had 'custom guitars' written on, even though they were standard production runs. Either way it's a beauty of a guitar

I'd say that is a custom.

Mainly due to the logo on the front of the headstock, that logo was reserved for custom shop ESPs. The inlay on the 12th fret could also be an indication. However, I don't think that that guitar is actually a one-off custom, I'd say its more a production custom.

As Bouncepogo said, the logo at the back of the headstock was also used on other non-custom ESP guitars so I wouldn't use that logo to help give you an indication.

However, I'd say that the guitar isn't wasn't made before 1995. I could of course be wrong. Somone with more accurate knowledge of the ESP logos could also tell you when they stopped putting the ESP Custom Guitars on the back of the headstock.

Its a production custom from the late 90s / early 00s.



ESP (US market) stopped using the "Custom Guitars" logo when the standard series arrived in the US (either 2002 or 2003), and then went with either "Standard Series" or "Custom Shop" logos.

Yeppers. It was copper with an ebony board, crown inlays and black hardware. Purchased at Reliable Music in Charlotte, NC back in....'89 maybe. I'm old..the gray matter doesn't recall things as well as it once did.

see dont get the" custom guitars "mixed with the "custom shop" , as they produced standards with the CG logo as welll, and thats fucked up i think
