Thanks to my Korean friend, I finally got my ESP Horizon FR-II guitars. I got two in see-thru black cherry and one in see-thru black. I know, I know.... I got three of them... Can't help it. :\

I got two of the see-thru black cherry cause I just dig that finish, especially on a quilted maple top. But looking at some pics of the black aqua, I'm starting to think whether I should get one of those as well and complete the collection. :evil

I was going to say, the only thing that you are missing is the Black Aqua! :D

Besides that...brilliant choice mate! Nice one!

Huh? I never knew they made Dark Brown Sunburst FR-II's... Last time I checked, I could only get the Aqua Blue, the see-thru Black Cherry and the see-thru Black ones...
Btw, I live in Europe ;)

Holy Crap! One of the best 1st posts ever!

I'm teetering on the edge of liking FR guitars again - you did not help at all, dude, not at all:lol

EDIT - and yeah, in the States, we'd just be glad to get teh NT-II in another color in addition to dbsb, if we could get (legitimately) the FR/FR-IIs, we'd have a coronary

Thanks guys! They were all well worth the wait. After playing some active EMGs for a while, I am very pleased with the SD passives on these things. Warm sounding pickups for a naturally bright-sounding guitar. The push-push coil tap too is another plus for these guitars, better than push-pull types in my opinion. The guitars are buzz-free, fresh from the factory. If I'm not mistaken, I think the DBSB finish for the FR-II is only available in Australia. But, given the chance, I'd like to get my hands on one in the future. Looking at some Caparisons too.

No, went to a guy in Sydney who bought that and an Eclipse-I CTM FR at the same time.
Seems I didn't take any pics of a DBSB FR-II yet. The owner will get some pics up on his band's MySpace I think soon. Will let you now when he does.

They do play very well. You're lucky to have gotten it right away. Mine got back-ordered and I had to wait for 4 months. Nice choice of finish, man. I raised the action a little on my "Blackie" and love the tone I'm getting. Although my hands have to get used to it. Post them pics when you get the chance!

Thanks bro! I'm from Canada, and as k65h said, this model is not available here or in the US. I just had a friend in Korea ship the guitars here to me. I'm gonna miss that fella....

But mine has a black OFR. :hat 8o

It is see-thru black. The color somewhat looks like purple when exposed to light. You noticed the OFR, huh? They're actually black chrome. I got two guitars that were made in 2007, and the other, the see-thru black cherry on the far right, was made last year. It's got the black OFR. Check the back of your headstock to see in what year yours was made so we could get rid of the confusion. Frankly, I'm not even aware that there are black chrome OFRs---only black, chrome, and gold. Anybody here own a 2007 Horizon FR-II in see-thru black cherry or see-thru black???

I just saw pictures of an ESP Standard M-II on guitarvillage.co.uk. Apparently, ESP uses black chrome hardware (including the OFRs) on some(or maybe all) of their 2007 Standard models. That explains it then.

Thanks! It's nice to get opinions from fellow horizon lovers! I'm sure you're gonna love yours. It would be perfect if the first thing you see on Christmas would be the guitar you've been waiting for so long. Then you would go.... lol! Post some pics of it when you get the chance!

Still didn't get mine, due to arrive next week (or something)

bigote:
dude, now that you've had 'em a while, I'm having one question:
Is the black chrome hardware fading and/or corroding? I heard somewhere that it happens and now I'm scared to get a new model with that black chrome hardware...

The black nickel hardware on my ESPs don't have any problems. Looks like it's going to last. The black nickel hardware on my LTD though(the bridge, the knobs, and the locking nut) are slowly fading to chrome, which sucks. I don't think you'll have that problem with ESPs. I actually kinda dig the black nickel cause I'm getting fed up with solid black hardware all the time. But yeah, as I said before, I don't think you need to worry.

Oh thanx for the reply, now I'm really glad...
cause in my opinion, the black nickel looks killer, but I was just afraid it would fade in time... now I'm happy :D

Here's a close-up of the See-thru black. The black nickel hardware goes well with the finish.

Every time I see that guitar I feel like going to my music room and just playing the hell out of it. One of the best guitars I've ever played, it's just fantastic.

And the black nickel hardware is indeed awesome. I don't think it will fade out, either.
