Sorry to create a new thread just for this, but I searched for something that seemed relevant, and couldn't really find where to post this. My question is this: I just bought a used F-205, and the corrosion on the bridge, tuners, and knobs is pretty impressive. Ideally, I'd like to just remove the hardware and soak them in some industrial solvent like Tarn-X or something. However, I'm unsure of what material the hardware is made of, and I don't know which type of solvent I should/shouldn't use. Any suggestions?

You don't gots to apologize. I'm unaware of what kind of metal the hardware is produced out of, but i'd start with more gentle solvents the begin. If you find thats not working too great, then work your way up to the stronger solvents.

That's good advice, thanks a lot. Any suggestions on particular brands to try? I'm not 100% sure on what constitutes a weaker solvent compared to a stronger one.

Thats tough to say. I did the same thing you want to do, only I did it on my old Jackson RR. I used a mildly gentle solvent, but I can't remember the brand. I just went into a hardware store and asked for a gentle one, and an employee got me what I needed, as I to have no clue what indentifies a weak solvent. Just make sure you thouroughly dry the hardware before you put it back on, or else you get gunky chemical shit all over your hands as you play.

speaking from experience, perhaps?
