NOPE, this is the ESP boards, so you will get opinions that are biased towards ESP.

Btw, the MH-1000 wil pwn the soloist! :rollin

I have played an SL3 before and it was purely average, didn't really like it. I'm certain you'd be happier with the feel and quality of the LTD, which shall be vastly superior with no backing up required! ;)

I think Jacksons are a bit over-rated. They're cool, but ESP is better.

Its all a matter of preferance. Both guitars will have there ups and downs. Ive played both side by side about a month ago. The ESP/LTD neck felt a little bit better then the jackson, but the Jackson felt like it was better built. I plugged both guitars into a JCM800 and they both sounded good. Keep in mind that both guitars were equipt with EMG's.
Since this is the ESP board theres a great chance your going to get pointed towards buying the LTD. Thats just how it is no matter what board you decide to go to.
If it were me in the situation. Id try saving up a bit more money and buy an ESP Eclipse. I played the Eclipse the same day i played the LTD and Jackson and it was the best feeling guitar ive picked up. The weight was right, the neck was perfect and it just plain out felt right.
Mainly, the decisions up to you. I think you should go to a local shop who carrys these guitars and give them both a shot. Then you can find what YOU want and not what other people think your going to like.
