Hey, I know you can keep emgs as close to the strings as possible, but how close do you guys keep yours to the strings? Thanks in advance

the same height as all of my pickups, I have yet to measure that.
I get great results though.

I usually keep it about 1/6 inch from the strings.
I measured today.

With EMGs I never noticed a difference in tone with different hights, unlike passives. So, I don't think it really matters.

strings aren't suppose to be too close to the pick ups, it interferes with the string's magnetic field

ah, the beauty of the electro-magnetic generatorz. their magnetic field is much lower than that of passive pickups allowing you to set it as close to the strings as you want without noticeable interference.. says so in their tech sheets!

I pretty much set mine up to ESP specifications, give or take 1/64in. Here's how I do it:
1.) Depress high e (string #1) at last fret
2.) Adjust that side of pickup to 4/64in from bottom of string to top of pickup
3.) Depress low E (string #6) at last fret
4.) Adjust that side of pickup to 6/64in from bottom of string to top of pickup
The volume output of the neck pickup should be approximately the same as that from the bridge pickup.

i keep the neck pickup level with the bottem of the fretboard, and the bridge pup by Jefferson_One's info.
