After lurking on this forum for a few years, I finally registered. A couple of days after registering, I finally get an ESP! Went to Sam Ash today with the intention of buying a new EC-500. I played every one they had in stock and none of them clicked the way I thought it would. I wasn't really sold on the EMG 60 pickup in the neck either.

I saw a MH-400NT sitting on the wall so I picked it up and I was floored by the way it felt and sounded acoustically. I plugged it in and loved every second of the 81. I also decided that the 85 was this shit for cleans in the neck. The finish was gorgeous..but that was just a bonus.

Oh yeah..pics..

Thanks :D I'm loving it so far, feels perfect. It's so gorgeous in person, I was blown away because I didn't even pay attention to the color until after I had strummed on it for a good ten minutes.

And I like the 81 in both guitars, I also liked the neck shape in both..not sure if they're the same. The MH was much more resonant and just clicked right away with me.

nice! thats the cosmo black hardware right? im still trying to figure out how mine got white binding and true black hardware

oh and for me i switched the 85 to the bridge (i still want another 85 for the neck) and i bumped it up to 27 volts, imo it rips now and im getting the tones i really wanted from it to begin with

How hard is it to swap out EMG pickups? I'm assuming mine has the quick-connect thingy in it. If it's not too tough i'll try the 85 in the bridge.

it's stupid easy, i had a pic how-to on the old board. all you do is unscrew the pickup rings and pop off the connector, switch rings and put it back together

Sounds easy enough, thanks for the info :D

no problem, consider the 18v or 27v mods also, made a difference to me atleast (some say it doesnt)
