What are batteries used for on guitars?(like the rzk or some custom shops.)
P.S. Those were the only guitars i could think of.

emgs are active pickups, esp are usually sold with the emg 81 in the bridge, 85 or 60 in the neck, they all sound different and all have there own plus's. there prowed by a simple 9 volt and can be powered by 18 volt as well

'Active' means that the pickups are usually a lower-powered set of coils and magnets (vs. passive pickups) that have their signal boosted by on-board preamps, which need the battery for the power. Some set-ups also have active frequency boosts (for bass, mids, or treble, or a combo of two or more), as well as other pre-amps to drive and shape the signal before it gets to the pre-amp of the guitar amp.

In comparison, 'passive' means that the electronics (i.e. the pickups in this particular case) are powered by the line voltage alone coming from the guitar amplifier's input. Passives use stronger magnets and bigger coils to electromagnetically boost the signal, so no batteries are required for the electronics in the guitar itself.

Both have their own character, and pros and cons, etc. It is not a case of one being better than the other, for the record.

I don't know if in Australia is the same but here actives are the gay ones who do the job and passives are the ones who receive it !!!
Just a joke :rollin

Evidently, every forum that this TREVA guys joins, he is eventually banned from. He talks the same crap to everyone, and he keeps repeating the same junk in different forums. He's banned at both the Ibanez and Jemsite forums too. :rollin

what the diffrence between 9 volt and 18 volt?

9 volt is just the standard amount of power required. 18v gives a bit more headroom and cleans up the preamp clipping. making cleans cleaner and distortion a bit smoother.
