I think there are very few shops that actually stock the Eclipse FT. I had to order mine from my local ESP dealer in the UK. It took approx 3-4 months to arrive. Believe me if you order one, you won't be disappointed.

Its more than I would be willing to spend. You can get a used LPC for close to that.

+1. IMO the FT Eclipse is not worth $500-$600 more than a regular ESP Eclipse when they are both ESP Standard Eclipses.

Have you played one? They are quite a bit nicer than all of the recent custom shop Gibson LPC's I've owned (6 of them). IMO the Gibson LPC shouldn't be a dime over $2K.

and then you'd have a used guitar that isn't as nice as the new one you could've had.;)

You could put a Gibson neck on that and most wouldn't know the difference at first glance

Yes I have played one briefly and while they are nice guitars I just didn't feel that they were much different from the regular ESP Standard Eclipses in feel and tone. The extra thickness is nice but IMO it's just not $500-$600 nicer than the regular Eclipses.
To me the only thing the Gibson LP and ESP Eclipse have in common is the body shape. Other than that they play, feel and sound completely different. I prefer the Gibson LP's feel and tone greatly over the ESP Eclipses. I do like both though.
I refuse to pay the new prices Gibson and ESP want for some of their higher end guitars. They are getting outrageous and going up every year. That is why I usually buy mint used. I got my mint Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Black Beauty for well under $2K.

Nice review. I can see where the LPC and FT Eclipse would sound very similar with both having EMG's. While EMG's don't make every guitar sound the same they do have that distinct tone that comes out in most guitars, especially if the wood type is similar. To me the LPC's just are beefier and meaner sounding overall than the Eclipses, regardless of the pickups.
To bad the clip links still don't work. I would be interested in hearing them. I've heard the comparisons before but it's been a while.

I think the LPC's sound much darker than the FT's which isn't what I'm looking for at all. I like a more balanced tone with some bite. IMO the FT's are nothing like the US Eclipses and have much better crunch tones compared to Gibson LPC's. I would like to hear a FT with passives to compare it to a stock LPC but with EMG's in both the FT sounds better to me.
