Or distorted guitar for that matter...
Im really tempted in just picking one up to fuck around with, has to be fun!
But what wah.... The classic Crybaby i have heard the GREATEST words from.. but for distorted guitars i have heard alot of downfalls...
The Dime wah from hell is a BEAST! but is there a better option?

And if it matter i normally use a base set of duncans, but have an axe now with emg's...
So if Passive or Active pickups would change the wah.. keep me posted

I'm using the 535Q by dunlop. Wish I just spent the extra $$ and got the Dime wah. They are prety much the same but the Dime has an extra knob to roll back high end. Plus the leds to let you know what on is cool.
The original crybaby is my back up though. Sounds good, but sometimes gets lost with heavy gain.

The CFH wah is indeed a beast, I've yet to hear a better wah for metal. It's a little extreme for other styles, though.

I like the curve of the Crybaby as well as the interaction with both my pickups (EMG 85's) and my distortion. The only thing I don't like is the switch. Granted I have the lower end no frills version. Maybe the switch on the CFH is of better quality.

For about $12 (and 10 minutes of your time) you can convert any Dunlop wah to true bypass with a superb quality switch.

Ive heard that another beast is the ZW-45 Zakk Wah, its getting really good reviews, and is very nicly priced and comes in a cool distressed chrome finish.
Im thinking im gonna pull the trigger on one of those babys... But the fact the Morley Tremonti Wah i regaurded as the best modren wah by many ive talked to that have one.
Altho, i feel that im gonna get the Zakk Wah sometime, as it sounds as if it can do what i want distorted and clean.

I've got a Zakk wah. It's alright but is very focused on the lower "guteral" sweep. I didnt really dig it. It didnt help cut through any mix. Pretty much only did when it was all the way toe down. You can adjust that but I still found it always sounded like Zakk. I'd do the Tremonti if I were you.

I have a Tremonti Power Wah. I love it. Doesn't get lost in the high gain tones I use at all.

Crybaby's sound good, I just don't like the way they switch on. I went with the Ibanez weeping demon wah and I have been pretty happy with it. Its probably one of the most versatile and tweakable wahs on the market, and it can go from switched, to switchless operation. It even works on bass.

I like my Morely Steve Vai, it does the job and the contour is a nice feature.

me too........usually. But the other guitarist in my band has the Dunlop 95Q and it's actually kinda nice. You dont have to start in the toe down position. And it's nice if you wanna through in a real quick lick or fill with the wah. You just puch down and release. It springs right back up and shuts off. Instead of going toe down to turn it on then rocking all the way heel down and gradually moving back to toe to turn it off.
Nothing major, really depends on how you use a wah. I wish my 535Q was switchless. I may have to look into the Ibanez. It looks weird though. Like a toy.

I've got a CFH wah and a Zakk Wyldd wah and they both do a great job on the metalz. The zw has a fantastic sweep, I particulary like how low it get with the heal down. The CFH has sooo many adjustment possibilities which is what I really love about it i.e. if i'm feeling funky I'll change the sweep entirely from what I have for metal.
Either way you can't go wrong with those two.

i have a bad horsie II but i still need to mess with it... it fades the notes when i step on it. i was gonna buy the mark tremonti one but the guy at guitar center kept bugging me with it... actually at the store sounded good, that's what sold it to me but at home i dunno...

I agree about the Ibanez...
it can be spring loaded, or unspring loaded... has a button to turn in on, and some other things...
I dont sell Ibanez, or I would have one....

Im thinking now that the Tremonti could be a great buy, but knowing it does cost a bit more $$$ then basic wahs... the Zakk doesnt seem so high now... So its still a battle :lol

does anyone know if the mark tremonti or the CFH have true bypass?
Im looking for a wah pedal with a boost and true bypass is kind of a must
Blake

Tremonti is true bypass. The boost is pretty good too, I prefer to blend it with my tubescreamer for full-on leads though.

Wah are a large matter of taste.
I have the much-praised CFH and I am happy with it, however I also had the Crybaby Classic and liked that one too - for metal as well. I now mostly use the George Lynch Wah from Morley however (which is based on the Tremonti model I was told) and I must say that even if it doesn't cut the mix as well I like it more tonally, because it is warmer and the sound is broader, richer. The CFH can sound quite thin and harsh sometimes and despite having dozens of knob it always sounds very aggressive.

ok Tnx dudes that was real helpful.
So the CFH isnt true bypass than?
pity because you can tweak the frequency ranges which is a very cool option

Zakk Wylde, although an Ernie Ball wah is currently in on my pedalboard.
Kinda boring though, the Zakk screams.

Wah are a large matter of taste.
Definitely. I used to have the Classic Crybaby, loved it but I let a buddy borrow it and never got it back. So I now have the 535Q. It's nice since it has all the adjustments and junk but I just don't like the tone I get from it as much as the CC. These are the only two I have really played around with though, so my opinion doesn't mean much :lol
