the licensed floyd on my mh-400 no longer holds a tune if i use it at all, i've tried tightening the locks at the bridge and the nut, and my problem persists. does anybody know how to fix this? im also contemplating a fast loader floyd from guitarfetish.com, does anybody know anything about the build and quality of these? im really not up for spending $200 on an original floyd.

the licensed floyd sucks!!! I've had one on my KH-202. I bought a Schaller OFR. it stays in tune 100%

I've heard good things about the Gotoh floyd, which is even less expensive than the Schaller. Suhr uses the Gotoh Floyd, so it must be good! You might want to look into that

ping floyd rose (http://www.meanstreetguitars.com/floyd_rose_tremolo.htm)

I don't have experience with the ping floyd, but I have with the schaller. its awesome. I double dare you guys that it's almost if not the same quality as the OFR

Goes to reckon, OFRs are made by Schaller.

FWIW,, & some of you may already know this, but if you do some research you'll find that the company "PING" is the same company that makes the golf clubs as well as is(was?) a branch of KAHLER.
True story.

The fastloaders are alos huge adn will likely need extra routing for the body to fit...

The Gotoh Floyd is an excellent bit of kit, i'd reccomend that you had a tech install it with the locking studs too, also you might need the saddles to be shimmed to match the radius (curve) of the fretboard..

The schaller FR or Schaller OFR would also be good choices But you can very likely pick up a gotoh trem for a lot less and it's got a really good arm holder, and the angled back fine tuners are a good feature...

Sometimes it could be something that is fixable, but if the knife edges are fucked then it's probably best to replace he bridge if you want to keep the guitar...

You may want to look for floyd setup guides, to amke sure the bridge is leveled, also double check the intonation screws are tight, and the nut is secured...

Ditto, I've had the Gotoh GE1996 on my TFS6 for 12+ years with over 500 performances & countless more hours in practice and recording, and it stays in tune splendidly. I use a Tremol-no for drop tuning.

I prefer the Schaller design, those Gotoh ones remind me of them Edge trems... :\
