They are pretty cool. I didn't even notice that Flynn had a Gibson style v, I thought it was like an Amott model, or something like that. Had no clue until I saw the guitar on a lighted stage. If I had known it was Gibson style, I never would have started this thread.

Why make a thread about it? Because I can. I havn't really been into Machine head for that long, so I didn't know what Flynn used, all I knew is that it was an ESP. It kind of looked like an Amott sig to me the first time I saw it so I assumed it was. After a little research, I found out it wasn't.

Look, im not trying to sound like a dick, cause im honestly not. I don't care if I might be a noob to machine head, but im not a noob to alot of other things. I don't care that I don't know alot about machine head. I saw this with all these people telling me that the sig would never happen, so i was merely trying to clarify that upon seeing Flynn's guitar, that it looked like an Amott sig in my eyes. I had no idea that it was a gibson style v until i saw a good picture of it a little while ago.

I made the thread to see what people would think about it. I never said that I didn't care about Machine Head, I said that I didn't care that I didn't know alot about them. I know that they write good music, and thats it. I DIDN'T say that I knew what people would say about it. After I posted the thread, I saw that all these people saying it would never happen. After I saw that it was a Gibson looking V, I found out why poeple were saying it.

Yeah, the live video that was filmed on one of the later Supercharger tours, just before the release of 'Hellalive'. Not a decade ago. Robb started using baritones when ESP brought out the first Baritones (FB-200 and VB-200 2001???). The FB-200 was used to record Supercharger. His custom baritone was made for him after this. Before this he was using the Gibson Flying V.

Well Supercharger came out in the second half of 2001, and so one of the later tours would have run into 2002/possibly early 2003. TTAOE came out in '03.

The mod commente on this when the guitar was first discussed here. He said something like: It was a one off.

Here are the dates:

Late 2000 ESP release details of new baritone models (FB-200/VB-300). I have a print off from the website dated 11 August 2000
2001 Robb is pictured in the catalogue with the FB-200
2001 Supercharger is released
2001 I have an interview on VHS where Robb mentions they are using the new baritone models and ESP are making him a custom
2002 Robb is pictured in the catalogue with FB-200 again
2003 Robb is in catalougue with Custom V (i'm sure I saw this before then)
2003 Hellalive comes out. The blood the sweat the tears vid is made with the audio from hellalive and footage has the supercharger stage backdrop. I think the footage must be from summer 2002 cause it's from festivals...
2003 TTAOE is released also

My initial post was not 100% accurate, im sorry, it was a guess. The point is though, the guitar has not been around a decade!!!

Cos yeah, Hetfield never actually got those Eclipses that were in the custom gallery as there's a lawsuit. Same with his Explorers. :|:rolleyes:

just to complete the geekiness:

Hellalive was recorded mostly from the Supercharger tour at Brixton, London December 8th 2001. This is the tour that I saw them on. Robb had the Gibson gutar and Ahrue had the VB-300. The additional tracks were from With Full Force festival, July 7th 2002. I think the footage for The Blood, the sweat, the tears must be from the with full force festival and perhaps other festivals at the time. Robb must have got his new guitar before they went on their 2002 summer tour.
