I need help within the next 24 hours!
I've just agreed to buy a Truckster off someone and i was wondering if you guys can tell me if it is in mint condition or not. As far as i know it looks fine to me. But because the guitar has scratches and marks in the paint to start off with, it is hard to tell because i can't find any pictures on the internet of what the back is meant to look like.
So please let me know if it looks mint to you, also if it is actually even the real deal and not a cheap copy.
Thanks guys.

I guess "mint" is a relative term with these guitars. But those dings on the edge don't look "stock." You can see the wood on some Trucksters I've seen, but they've all been sanded down to the wood. This one looks like the finish was chipped off due to being dropped or something. To me, that looks suspect.
But perhaps some Truckster owners can be or more assistance.

Scary to say, the chips are dead on what my brand new truckster looked like. I was shocked when I saw it as it looked like it was dropped, but that is EXACTLY how mine looked when they first came out. In other words shocked by... how the fuck can the replicate dings like that so well . Oh and yeah the top ding on mine had the 2 bits that look like teeth marks. :rollin:rollin:rollin

I still love mine. They look 10 times better in person than in pictures. Most people that see them in real life and actually play them love them.

Never got a chance to play them... Maybe for the best too, cause I would probably take it home with me, and then I'm either broke, or in jail for stealing :D

That's the right thread to say, that it took a long time for me to fall in love with the truckster. My first impression was like "what the fuck is that ugly piece of wood". But I must admit, that I still hate the ESP-Logo.

They definitely look better in person. It's actually a pretty cool guitar. If it were any color but gray, I think it would help make it have a wider appeal. But it really is nice in person.

They hate them because they never played them exactly like MEG 32 said. I hated it too when I first saw it! LOL But when you get one, the smooth finish is dope, the dings and wearing looks cool, but more importantly IMO it sounded better than the other standard eclipese. IMO. I found it had a nice shimmery clean tone, and i noticed a brighter tight distortion.
I miss mine so much, I am considering say fuck to the 84 Gibby Explorer re-issue and looking for a used Truckster. But the EBAY prices IMO have been a bit high for what they ask for them

Well I like the Truckster more than Gibson Explorer so if I were in your shoes I would go Truckster. But then again, I punch myself every day for not being in your shoes :lol

Yeah i dunno it has been boiling in me the past few weeks. More and more I am slowely not digging it. I would much rather have an MX250 with sperzels and a rosewood board if I could. The truckster has what I need. Maple neck, rose wood etc.

can anyone here imagine how badass a black truckster would be?

not really :) I love the grey finish so black wouldn't do it justice IMO

The ESP Truckster I played in Tokyo earlier this year was an insanely good guitar. In pictures, I always hated the look. But in person, it felt incredible and the finish/wear didn't seem so cheesy.
Anyway, they don't have a maple neck. It's just like an Eclipse II - maple top, mahogany neck and body, and rw board. That's what I've wondered about this sig - I don't think it's exactly like Hetfield's. Eclipse customs are maple neck thru, and Eclipse standard series are maple top/mahogany body/ set neck like the Truckster. I've always thought Hetfield's preference was maple neck, rw board, mahogany body, and set neck.

James's personal Truckster was made from a ESP Standard Eclipse. He took a Standard Series Eclipse and did the finish and wear himself.
After James and ESP decided to do another Hetfield sig., James sent his original Truckster to ESP for them to copy.
They are definitely awesome looking in person. Pictures don't really do them justice IMO.
