Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone could give me a definitive answer to this. I'm wondering if it's possible to have my M-II Deluxe routed for a neck humbucker and not have any of the existing single coil route show up outside of the pickup ring? Just by looking at the guitar it seems like the pickup ring would cover up everything, but what do you guys think? Here are some pictures...

yeh it seems possible, cuz the pickup ring would cover it but make sure to leave areas for the screws to screw into:) if worse comes to worst, then fill in this cavity and like reroute everything from scratch:)

I say just get a new M-II maple and let somebody else have the single coil in the neck

I dunno why I would want to do that. I got this guitar for $650 and it has an "ESP Custom Guitars" stamp on the back of the headstock. The regular M-II is a standard series, costs $1300 new, and now has black chrome hardware. I'll pass.

That ESP logo doesn't mean squat I am afraid. All ESP guitars back in those days came with that logo, doesn't mean it's a CS quality guitar. It's more along the lines of a standard series to be honest. I would probably just buy a new MII and sell this one. To have the routing done and new pu's purchased and installed you are looking at another $300 plus all the work and pain in the ass if something is messed up. You can get a minty MII off ebay for under 1k and it will probably be a nicer guitar.
I've seen you around, and you have had some real nice ESP's come and go. I honestly thought though you could tell the difference between a CS and SS guitar.:(

$300 to get a guitar routed for a neck pickup that already has a route? I could get a friend to do it for cheap.
I've owned a decent number of ESP and LTD guitars. I honestly don't notice the huge difference that some people talk about. I think a lot of those people are just trying to justify the fact that spent SO much cash on a guitar. ;)

Not just the routing for $300 bro but the new PU and wiring work, unless you have a PU sitting around and can sodder? If you can and have someone to do the routing then heck ya I would do the mod too.
As far as a difference, there def is one. All the CS ESP's I have owned have been better than any SS or any other guitar for that matter. With that being said, I don't think they are worth it unless you get a great deal. The SS do play very nice, hell, after I sell my VHB I won't even have an ESP anymore. Just a Gibby 84RI EXP and a Fender 57 RI strat.
Didn't mean to knock your current guitar, it is nice and those old ESP's play very nice.

I've owned nearly 70 guitars including lots of high end stuff. Certain guitars are worth it, but a lot aren't. I actually don't care for most ESP's. A lot of them feel plastic to me. This M-II has been my favorite one though. It's nothing amazing, but it's a solid guitar and was cheap for what it is.

I agree... Unless you are bent on looks I would just install a mini bucker!
Is it the tone you want or is it because you like the looks better?
