You should change your strings every few months anyways...

there are a few sweet spots all along the string you just need to find them and you can get a sweet pinch anywhere. (i am talkin about right hand and specifically in the area starting at the neck pickup and ending near the middle of the bridge pickup, there are specific spots, find them and you shall find what you seek)

I change my strings every 2 weeks... Ok, I only play on 1 guitar, and that about 3 hours every day... Once every few months, noway

I change the strings according to what the letter name is in comparison to the name of the month. If the name of the month has the letter in it, the string gets changed that month. So, the G string only gets changed in August, and the D in December. If the name of the month only has one 'e,' it depends on where it is in the name. For example, the 'e' in February is in the first half of the name, so the low E gets changed. In June, it is at the end, so the high E gets changed. In a month that has two or more 'e's? Simple. BOTH E strings get changed.

January= A string
February= low E, B, and A strings get changed
March= A string
April= A string
May= A string
June= high E
July= no changes
August= A and G strings get changed
September= both E strings and B string
October= B string and high E string
November= both E strings and B string
December= D, B, and both E strings

It seems complicated, but it's not, and has worked well for me. I decided it was simplest, however, to only tune to standard tuning, and only use a six-string guitar.

Well, depending on how much you play them of course. Every day if you have 1 guitar and play it for up to 12 hours a day.
But that would be expensive if you had four or five guitars...

I change my strings whenever they get funky looking or divots in the back. I fret hard and go through strings and frets like it's my job. Most strings last about a week or two. A day before a show I restring, irregardless of time of old strings on. I play live with 3 guitars in rotation. Same guitars for practice, twice a week. I use whatever one has me in the mood. But if they dont get used the strings stay on for a long time. Same as the closet guitars. My acoustic gets the strings changed when I am bored as I hate acoustics and hate stringing them. I only use the guitar for when I go out to smoke. So they have been on now for like 3 months. But they are those coated units, so they still look like new.

But to the original poster, I actually think you DO get a very slight difference in PH with new strings. Maybe go with a lighter set of strings to get easier effects.
