I just got my KH-202, and I sure do love it.
my question is about the floyd rose. is it a floyd rose, or is is a rip off?
it says floyd rose licensed...what does that mean? what is the diffrence?
also........
this is my very first guitar with a trem on it. I have NEVER changed the strings on one. is it difficult?
I bought the guitar from musiciansfriend.com and down on the 12th fret and also the 21st fret, the skull inlays are very dark......almost to where u cant see them. anyone else have that?
thanks and sorry if my questions are stupid!

Those aren't stupid questions at all.
I wouldn't call the Licensed Floyd an Original Floyd Rose rip-off. It just means Floyd Rose licensed part of it's design to another company to build.
Are LFR's lower quality? Yes, I don't know much about them but I do know of people who swap them out for the OFR. At the KH-202's price point I don't know if it would be worth the swap though.
As far as changing the strings, it will be harder initially but you get used to it. At that point it's not really that much more work/harder it's just different.
I'm not sure about the inlays.

very cool! thanks! Ive been playing on and off for about 4 years, but with this guitar I decided, I want a Kirk guitar because he is my idol/hero and I am determinded to learn how to be a better guitar player! METALLICA is my favorite band of all time, and finally I found a guitar that I can afford, and that has the look of Kirks! makes me feel good inside! like a little kid at christmas all over again! :)

Hey! My first ESP/LTD was a KH-202. I love the guitar. Fine instrument. Recently added a JH-200DC as well. I know the 'new guitar' feeling is great! Congrats!:hat
Changing strings with a FR is easy after you do it once. Just go one string at a time!
I am a Kirk fan as well...sometimes we seem to be a minority! I need more WAH!!!

Love it, looks great. It is a satin finish, not a favorite of some people, but I like it! Here is a link to the Hanny thread. My post is the last one with updated pictures:

Don't forget, there are good quality LFRs such as Schaller, Gotoh, and Ibanez, just to name a few...

yeah, Ibanez has some good Licenced Floyds. The trem on the KH202 isnt bad either (wasnt on mine anyway, which was older.. dunno if they changed it in the last couple of years). Changing strings on a floyd isnt that hard. If itīs your first time, itīs probably best to change them one by one.
Just take off the locks at the headstock, loossen the string with the tuners, then get the strings out of the Floyd (loossen the block that holds the string with a hex key) and put a new one in

It really sounds like any $99 practice amp. Useful, but nothing amazing.
