Hang on... what exactly are you wanting to do here? Im not clear what you have and what you want to do.
You own a P bass or are you looking to get one?

here's my attempt at understanding:

From what I understand:
1) you have a standard fender p-bass with a rosewood fingerboard.
2) you want a maple fingerboard on your standard p-bass
3) you are also changing out various parts on the standard p-bass (pickguard, hardware, etc.)
4) you want to know if you should take the $200-$250 you'd spend on a new neck and buy a squier p-bass with a maple fingerboard and just swap the necks
is this correct?
