Hello I basically have two questions:

1) How do EMG 81 and EMG 60 do in the bridge position on a Alder wood guitar? I play Metal a lot and use modern amplifiers (ex. Mesa) but nothing extreme (ex. high distortion amplifier channel). I do not play Classic Rock, Jazz or Blues.

2) How do those pickups do on a Ash wood guitar in bridge position?

Thank you for your response.

Ive heard lots of rumors about EMGs and alder guitars not working too well together , I dont own any alder guitars so Ive never been able to hear for myself.I think others on this board might be able to fill you in on it

I love the sound of the 81 in the bridge and neck of my alder ESP. The neck is warm and the bridge is tight and clear.

The 81 sounds fine in the bridge of alder or ash. The 60 is pretty much a neck pickup. I've never tried it but from what I have heard it doesn't sound good at all in the bridge. The 85 is decent for the bridge also.
