Well ive got really bad buzzing on my Alexi (Edwards). It started when i put new D'adario strings on it. Did'nt increase or decrease gauge or nothing. Put them on...setup the tremolo and i still get bad buzz all over. Although when i play it through the amp there is very little or nothing sometimes. Anyway i can solve this problem? Im not very good at adjusting the truss rod.

And most of the buzzin' is on the Last three strings D,A,E.

Halpz.

is the floyde setup right?
if so then i think a truss rod adjustment is going to be needed.

different types/brands of strings have different properties, even if they're the same gauge.
(some may be slinkyer, other tougher, etc., this affects the way they vibrate)
if the d'addarios are softer than the other ones, this may explain the buzz.

if the neck's straight, don't bother with the thus rod.
just adjust, like caraluzzo said, the bridge/floyd (raise buzzing strings a bit).

Ok, i did that and got the floyd set up by a tech. He said that theres no problem...because theres no buzz while playing through the amp. Although i think i can hear a little buzz through the amp

you may do this kind of adjustments yoursef.
if you're at beginning, then a (full) setup by a tech is the way to go.

it's ideal not to have any fretbuzz at all (unplugged), with a decent low action.
i don't know how many midrange guitars are up to that, but i'd expect that from your edwards.

:( What should i do?

Swap back to whatever stings you were using before. Since D'Addario blow balls anyway.

Damn, we don't get those SITs here. Ill probably have to find some way of getting them across.

I just re-read your first post. Make sure your neck is straight, site it. If it is, then just raise one side of your floyd a turn or so.

^ok i think my neck is a little tilted towards the bottom whereas the floyd is horizontal (180deg)

And yeah my guitar came with SITs

I have a lot of issues...

As for topic: I think i found the problem. I had changed my tuning from E to 1 step down. I setup my floyd rose back to E now and i only get buzz on the first 2 frets and on the last 2-3 strings.

I noticed that the strings are kind of slanting from the floyd rose. The action at the 24th fret is 3 times the action at the first fret. How could i go about getting that fixed?

Adjust your truss to give a slight foward bow, turn it a tweak clockwise. That will give you neck some relief. It will raise your strings beyond the 12th fret and your action will be like poo for a second. Just adjust your floyd down till your action improves to where you would like it. That should solve some of the fretting issues at the 1st couple of frets.

How many degrees clockwise?

stop trying to be a smart ass... and you goof when i meant how many degrees clockwise i meant out of 360

simebag89

i wouldnt turn a full 360 degrees dude...thats asking for trouble...

if you dont have experience with the truss rod get your tech to do it.

Shreddy

what i was trying to ask was "How much should i turn (in degree) in respect to 360 being a complete turn"

Wow, why is that so hard to understand.

simebag89
09-09-2007, 04:21 AM
what im trying to say is that you'd never turn it 360 degrees anyway.

so having a image with 360 degrees would be irrelevant.

Wow, why is that so hard to understand.

I thought the truss rod had a "circular screw head thingy" ...and AFAIK circles can turn 360deg

simebag89
09-09-2007, 04:31 AM
pfff

you only wanna turn the truss rod 1/4 of a turn at a time. wait for the neck to adjust then come back and make anymore adjustments if its needed.

simebag89

if, now you've tuned it back up to E standard, its not noticable when playing id be inclined to leave it as is...

however, if it's pissing you off take it back to the tech and tell him to fix it...and dont let him tell you theres nothing wrong.

It kinda pisses me off cus my Ibanez is perfectly setup and this isnt lol...although the buzz cant be heard on the amp but it still sucks

It won't break if you don't overtighten it, simple as that...

Im too scared to try. I called him up and i told him "This time i want it perfect not just over the line" And he said he'll do it. The wierd thing is we've become friends now and he doesnt charge me for it. :D but i gotta go about 40Km to get there. :(

The truss rod should be nothing to be scared of. It will strip the nut before it ever breaks from it's weld. Back bow is not something I'm a big fan of. Sure it's low action but at what cost? Fretting out up high or a buzzing sitar effect? Take your pick. With a floyd rose I get the neck straight with almost no bow and adjust the bridge height for my action, seeing as the lock nut is a fixed point. Maybe I'll add a shim to the nut if it's too low all depends. Don't be scarred of it bro. It's best to learn the simple stuff like adjustments and pickup changes so you're not giving your money away. Pay for the creepy stuff, like frets ;)
