I played the Skulls and Snakes and the Sunburst Tiger at a local store. The skulls and snakes wasn't that bad but the tiger was like playing a brick. I wonder if anyone has tried some way to reduce the weight or can I buy a custom shop that weighs a lot less?

Why does George like these things so heavy? I've been a Lynch fan for years and I'd love to have one of his guitars but the thing needs a few changes for me.

They're made entirely of maple, maple is very very heavy. Pick up an old M-1000, I nearly fell over the first time I picked one up, looks like a strat, weighs like a les paul

Alot of it depends on the grade of wood ESP uses. The Eclipses do seem very light to supposedly be solid mahogany. A adler strat shaped guitar shouldn't be heavier than a mahogany LP shaped guitar. Especially will all of the routing that is done on the KH guitars. Makes you really wonder what grade of mahogany ESP uses for their export Eclipses??

Kami's are kind of heavy but once you strap them on and play, you forget about that quickly!!!

I once heard that a very light peice of mahogany is in fact a very good peice of mahagony. True or not? I don't know.

thats actually quite true... one of the highest grades of mahogany, is the mahogany from hondura. a les paul made of this weighs almost 6 pounds
and sounds super heavy, amazing shit

but on the other end, another high end grade of mahogany is the kalantas mahogany which is realy heavy.. i once held a brain moore made of this which weighed close to 10 pounds, when compared to a warwick bass.

Maple baby!

Because that is the way George likes them. It helps him achieve his signature tone, sustain and bite
