So, I inevitably messed something up when I was messing around taking off the pickguard. There's this wire that connect from the volume pot (by the way, this is a Floyd Rose DST-2 guitar, one volume knob ONLY), and as I took off the pickguard something snapped or broke, or some solder came loose. I'm not too sure. Anyway, the wire is in half, one attached to the pot and one dangling from the back of the FR tremolo unit, soldered on, so I assume this is some sort of ground wire for the pot or some shit, I don't know.

Anyway, I tried soldering the two ends together, and it just doesn't work. Plugging it in, I sometimes get awful static or random bursts of it, or just silence. It's odd. Please help, as I'm only just beginning electric guitar, and my second lesson is this upcoming wednesday and I don't want to be without a working guitar.

Hmm..
Something similar to this happened to me in my earlier playing days when I was installing a new pickup. You said you've tried to solder the 2 ends back together. Are you sure that both wires are grounded well? When I was putting in my Dimebucker, I had to run one wire to my trem unit and solder it there. Otherwise, I'd get a nasty static or nothing at all. So, check EVERYTHING out (input jack, pickup selector, EVERYTHING), and make sure the wire is soldered well at both ends. Hope this helps!
