Does this need to be done through custom shop? For those that have recently purchased, mind if i ask what you spent on it?

I ordered an M-II Urban Camo on Friday from guitar plaza in Florida. Their website said they have four of them on order and they expect them any day now. It may have been a sales pitch to create a sence of urgency but the salesman said 3 of the 4 were already spoken for. $2,000 is the cost of one. If you are interested in aquiring one for yourself give them a call or visit Guitar Plaza... http://www.guitarplaza.com
Good luck, Q

It's possible that he's not kidding...we did the same thing in my old shop. We ordered a batch of customs and 3 were snagged before they even started production. The UC's didn't do all that well until they discontinued them...lol But then again, most shops ordering them change specs here and there to make them a little different too.

Thanks for the replies! I'm gonna give this place a call and see if there are any left...I guess my only question is why is the price only $2000.00 if its gonna run $3000.00 or more when ordering through custom shop? oh, and how long does it usually take for the guitar to be built when ordering through custom?

You can still buy them in Europe as an export model.

The price difference reflects the difference between a Standard Series guitar and a Custom Order.

Right, but since there is no longer a standard urban camo MII didnt the shop (www.guitarplaza.com) have to custom order these guitars?

not necessarily...some dealers have access to the export stuff and can occasionally order pieces from it. Those are the Standards... They're around still...just not in production for wide US sales. But certain dealers have lil' "favors" we can pull with ESP and get fun stuff like this. :)

I was cosidering going the custom route until I saw the one I wanted available as a standard. 1point8t was right about your paying 3K for one (maybe more). Save the grand and get the standard if it's still available.

Time frame is 6 to 8 months. But, you can have it built the way you want it. (reverse headstock, pickups, wiring etc...)

it can be longer for the camos...actually right now, even basic shapes and colors are taking longer...lol

Just an update....I called guitarplaza and was told that they had one in stock but it turns out that they did not. However, I was told that they had just "PUT IN A LARGE ORDER OF URBAN CAMO MII's" and they should be at the shop in aproximately 4 months. I was the first to be put on the hold list for this order according to the guy I talked to so if you guys are looking to pick up one of these guitars I would call and get on the list! Thanks for everyones help with this!
