How do I know if the the normal KH-2 is custom shop or not? It's a NT and says custom guitars, but doesn't have a letter at the beginning. I assume the 01 a the beginning was the year it was made.

I'm from the UK.

I got the KH-2 NT from the US in 2001. And as far as I know it was a cutom order. It doesn't have a letter in front of the serial no. so I have no idea if it's a regular production or made in the custom shop.
The Ouijas I own have normal Serials starting with "K" which I assume all the others have aswell.

As for the Snakeskin, that is actually a late 80's or early 90's Jackson Performer series with their custom shop graphic, but previous owner put the Charvel neck on it. So if you are looking, search for it by Jackson. Or unless you want to drop 2G's you can buy the new Charvel San Dimas with the new Copper Snake graphic....yeah that one will be eluding me for quite a while too.

How's the Lynchbox sound?


I'm lovin it... It's not built as nicely as my Soldano.
It has a lot going on. All tube, swapable modular preamps, midi switching, global master, presence and density. The Lynch mods are awsome IMHO.
Brahma = George's marshall Plexi, Mr Scary = very Soldano like, Grail = very ENGL like, Super V = Vox AC30.

I've changed stock pickups to EMG 89 bridge (push pull on volume pot), 60 in middle and S in neck position. 3 way switch, knobs changed their places, it's more comfortabe now to reach to volume knob.

phase II will be instaling white rings, TonePros and Sperzels but I'm broken after buying new guitar so this will have to wait

No dude, the eet fuk guitar was olympic white to begin with. It has only gotten more yellow after that.
I think you're confusing it with one of his other guitars.

i'm pretty sure it's possible that james hetfield is really rich and might actually take good care of his guitars and put them in a safe place where they can't discolor

White will almost always turn yellow, no matter how good you take care of your guitar. The polyurethane in the finish causes yellowing over time, some nitro finishes do the same as well. That's why white binding yellows over time. The clearcoat causes a reaction that turns the binding and/or finish yellow. Even raw wood will yellow over time. Woods like white oak, pine, etc yellow over time when you put a polyurethane clear coat over the top of them. As for the eet fuk it was already starting to yellow when James retired it in the late 80's early 90's. The second pic is his second ESP Explorer that he received at the same time as the eet fuk. It's gone through some sticker/graphic changes over the years, but it's been his main studio guitar since he got it. You can see how yellow it's gotten over the years. You guys might be thinking of his latest ESP Explorer pictured at the bottom. I think he got it around 2003.

Although I must say plywood doesn't really have to be a bad thing. Some plywood is heavy as fuck (80s Hondo's anyone?). My first guitar was made of plywood and it was heavy and sounds pretty good. The only thing that's not good about it is that it is lacking in tightness.

The Les Paul story I heard had playwood inside the guitar. Only the outside was covered in mahogany to make it look 'real'. I'm afraid I don't remember which model it was. Only that it was an Edwards LP and that the guy was really looking forward to getting it (it took a while) and when he received it he got the cold shower.

It's amazing how little ESP fans know about Ibanez & vice versa. Obviously there are fans of both, but there is definately a gap.

Likewise with my ESP's being mostly customs for me, they work as well. This brand loyalty/shit-throwing stuff is hilarious sometimes because people in both camps are missing out on some fun stuff. There are some brands that warrant it...lol But really, it's no different than cars. Some need utility vehicles. Some just want flash and speed. Some want be lil' tree-huggers and drive econo jelly-beans.

see for me, it's a matter of what company does certain things better...there hasn't been a 7 string from ESP that makes me as happy as the 1077XL. Likewise there are tones I get from my Ibani that aren;t in any ESP I have or have tried.

But the same coin is that there are heavy tones from my ESP's that no Ibanez will touch. So it's just the tool for the particular job...lol

Lack of an Ibanez Custom Shop is a real pain, as is the end of the RG-550 with Maple Neck. IMO One of the finest guitars EVER.

+1. I actually kinda like the Atreyu sigs (24.75 in scale, mahogany, Floyd), but if you're not going mask that bloody-tampon paint job with anything, then sell it for the SV.

I understand that there are heaps of people that hate the blood on it, but i dont mind it cos i reckon it looks much better in real life than on pictures for some reason. i'm not really an atreyu fan but i mainly bought that guitar cos the shop heavily reduced the price down on all esp guitars (cos they werent dealing them anymore), plus it feels hell smooth to play and sounds awesome! ...and it looks death metalish.
I'm still getting the SV in a month, that should redeem me for those of u that don't agree with the dan jacobs sig?!

Excellent guitar for the money. I was shocked at how well it plays and the fit and finish. The 'paint' is actually a decal, so that's kinda cheesy. I might take the rest of the decal off and hit the wood with a nice oil finish.

But, for $450, you can't beat it. Sounds great too, the stock pickups are not bad at all.

Not easily, theres a satin like finish over it. I'll probably use a razor blade and sandpaper to get it off there. One funny thing is that the LTD logo on the headstock was on TOP of the finish, so I ended up taking it off. I added an ESP logo to it later since it looked weird with nothing at all.

cool, i am a big lynch fan and that is my favorite guitar, well 2nd behind the yellow tiger. i wish i had the money when those were out. anyway i was debating that or a strat, the sticker thing had me worried for a minute there. how is the hardware and pickups. hopefully the ltd label will be a sticker on top i want to put an esp logo also.

Everything else is good for what you pay for. The stock pickups sound decent, and the tuners and bridge are the same as you'd get on a Mex strat or something, decent enough. I'm going to throw some Sperzels and graphite saddles on this thing when I get a few extra dollars to burn.
