hi guys, im just wondering about the durability of 250 series guitar, aka agathis body... coz, from what i know, agathis is a soft wood, is it easily get dented?

my friend owns an LTD, he bought it like 3 years ago. after using it for awhile, the guitar suddenly got crack at the neck join. the guitar never fall of or anything, thats the most weird part of it...

Dude, soft woods dont mean the wood is 'soft', all soft wood means is that the grain is not as tight as hard wood. Balsa wood is as flimsy as wood gets but it is classed as a hardwood

i see. thanks for clearing things up.

but from my friend's experience, makes me think twice of buying it... MH250 is actually in my shortlist. other than that, there's epiphone LP custom, and ibanez rg.. all without tremolo.

design wise, im leaning more to MH, looks soo damn gorgeous. but i need to know it worth the price... the epiphone is also around that price with mahogany body.

get what feels right for you, with your mates guitar was it a crack as such, or was it a crack in the paint, cause that is quite common

no, its totally not the paint dude....the crack is between the neck and the body... right under the fretboard-body joint...

i just read ur user name properly, haha at first i thought it was a random typing.

...yea, about the feel thing, i love the feel of an RG, but i also tried the MH, soo nice, im only concern about the body wood...

Your mate had to have done something to it, like swinging it around like a baseball bat,

I would go the MH, Ibanez's just don't do it for me

My new ESP has a crack in the neck joint. Two of my other guitars (bolt ons) have cracks that look much worse and it hasn't effected the playing at all.
I hope thats the same for set necks because it hasn't seemed to affect the playing yet.
Should i get it seem to by a repairer?

I would, if moisture gets in there it will get worse

My MH came with a small crack in the finish at the fretboard-body joint. I've had it three years and it's got some dents on some corners of the body that I caused and one mysterious one on the headstock that's pretty bad. I'd say it holds up well. I tend to beat up guitars.

A lot of people who have 250 series will have em a few years, not because of durability but because they upgrade.

DONT GET A 250! I CANOTT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! My first electric was a 250 F, it lookied bithchin' but was absolutly orrible, trust me, you'll be better of with the RG for sure, and the epi after that.

Hmmm sounds like a stess crack.Could be a number of things.A change in climate sometimes(rarely)will cause a crack near or at the neckpocket or maybe if it's a bolt on someone cranked the neckplate too hard and caused the stress crack.Iv'e fixed a lot of these that were through the wood and not just a crack through the paint. If the neck and body are still stable its purley cosmetic.

"how long do you own your 250s"

not long. itll be about 6 months untill you want somthing different. my friend had an ec and got sick of it very quick. it wasnt a bad guitar, just didnt deliver. going about another $200 (which isnt much when talking guitars) can get you a LOT more.

ehh i wouldnt say that. the les paul custom and g-400 are good guitars. epiphone isnt miles away from gibson like everyone seems to think. theyre pretty similar minus some small things.

Epiphones are lightyears away from gibson quality.

epiphones feel cheap, all of them do. For the price of an epiphone les paul custom, you can get any LTD 400 series.

Compared to any ESP (including LTD) Epi's feel really cheap.
