Does anyone heard about this new Randall amp?
http://www.randallamplifiers.com/products/amplifiers/xl/v2archetype.asp
I haven't found much information or samples yet. Anyone tried it at NAMM?
Randall is definetely agressive this year with all these signature amps. ;)

Looks hot! I wonder how comparable this is to the Marshall Kerry King JCM 800.

^well, the Randall is much tighter, with a much bigger bottom end... plus it's a solidstate, it probably has a more agressive tone
the Marshall has that mid-oriented tone, a probably brighter voicing...

Which equals PHAIL :p
Seriously though, Randall makes kickass SS's. Probably the Only good SS IMO

Anyone know how the Ninja and Archetype differ from the normal V2?

Explain.
The 800 is a very sensitive, dynamic, and unforgiving monster. The KK800 has a few modern features that make it easier to play, but the V2's are effortless in comparison. Much more compression and gain.
They're two very different sounds.

I don't think they do.

okay..those are the 2 amps I'm looking at right now. I'll have to go give them both a try! I wonder why these artists jump ship from Krank and move to Randall?

I think that's a nice opportunity and challenge for a musician to be able to design his own amp model but a nice contract and money is probably also a good reason ;)
Randall kicks ass! My T2 (used to be mine at least:\) along with my warhead cab was brutal! I used a Boss SuperChorus along with them and it sounded huge
What's the difference from the Archetype/Ninja and the regular? I couldn't find any in the specs:confused:

just because the specs are the same doesn't mean they won't sound different

Check out the Randall forum. There are a couple of guys there that can explain it to you. One dude even has a few clips.

2203 JCM800 Head, the only thing I trust backing up my VHT D120.
Its a great amp, dynamic, simple, reflects the tone in your hands.
Make sure you look for a vertical input JCM800 not the horizontal ones. I feel the horizontal input JCM800s are a bit shady in quality and sound.

That makes absolutely no sense.

Apparently, the Ninja has more gain on the 2nd channel and is brighter sounding, FWIW.

they don't tell you what the circuitry is like at all, and that's what shapes the tone.

True, but by his statement it sounds like he's saying that an amp with the EXACT same spec as another can sound different.

The specs are the same on the randall site, so by that, they do have the same "specs" the circuitry is something totally different, I wouldn't really call that "specs" ... but I do know where you're coming from.
