Heres my ESP KH-2 Neck Thru CS which I made into ouija. I bought the graphics from Bill and installed it myself. The on problem I encountered was putting the letters on because they won't stick on the pickups. So if any of you know how I can get it done please let me know. I would really appreciate it. I also bought the moon and star inlays from creative cuts and Im going to get rid of the skulls. Will update with more pics when I complete the guitar.

The 'OUIJA' looks huge? :\
I've been considering Ouija'ing my CS KH-2NT aswell.
Cool :)

yea that to me totally throws it off. and all the wording above it is oversized. i personally was never a fan of the Ouija guitar, but the mummy replica that he does is an incredible job.

if you read his post you se that that is what he is having problems with..to get the letters to stay on :lol
You must paint the pickups and clear coat them before applying the letters on it ..otherwise it dont get any grip..and it will look horrible if you dont do it beacuse the picups are more gray/black than the guitar is.. if you look at the oroginal you can see that kirks pickups are black and not "grey" as they are when u buy them...
good luck :hat

Yes the OUIJA is big, I can't make the decals small enough (the ouija isn't the problem, but the words above and below it), but I can with a paint mask. If I make them any smaller, it is impossible to "weed" the decal (remove all the vinyl around the decal) without the letters lifting too. I could probably do a one off or so with the Ouija and words small...but I sell alot of these, and to make them small all the time would suck!!! It takes 45 mins to make a set as it is, oh well such is the price when you are using decals. :\ Paint masks are a different story, the material is different, plus when weeding, you remove the small pieces (letters) with tweezers and leave all the material around them, and it makes it easier for the tiny details.
How are you going to remove the skulls to do the moon and stars? Don't ruin that guitar...at least the decals come off easy

Im not really a fan of the mummy because the bottom of it is black instead of orangey, yellowish colour like kirks.

Na I mean the bottom of the front of the mummy graphics. The ones you made are blackish on the sides but kirks is full orange and yellow. I would love to get a mummy done but I want it more like Kirks.

Well im afraid you never will, and are being extrememly fussy!
The graphics done by him are absolutely amazing and the closest you will get to getting a mummy look alike.
Ie, need a neck through balck neck and back and orange floyd rose recession, one of a kind inlays etc etc...
I love the work he did on my guitar, hats off again, superb job
Ive just finished airbrushing the mummy onto a KHII for someone and i had to find every possible image of Kirk's i could find. There is a wide range of looks depending on what image you look at, in some it looks black around the edges and the mummy is more green, in others the edges look cherry red and the mummy looks much more yellow.

I think the vinyl kit is superb BUT i think the black is a little harsh on the mummys head, it doesnt seem to fade in too well. But thats just me, im a picky artist type fella hehe :)
Ive ended up buying a LTD M200FM (couldnt afford a KHII) to paint the mummy onto for myself cos i liked the way my other one came out so much :)

Well I think they are awesome graphics and he really does a good job on them but everyones got their own opinion. The black edges on the mummy just puts me off, other than that the thing is just perfect.

on this note dude, you were telling me to colour my pre-existing inlays with a sharpie.
does this come off easily?
and how does it look in between the decals you got any pics?

Well, personaly I wouldn't be all that enthusiastic about coloring over my inlays with a sharpie. I'm not sure how porous the inlay material is or how good the sharpie will stick to it, but regardless, to get it off, you'd have to use alcohol (works great on getting shapie off plastics) or some sort of thinner. On top of that, the inlay is a shiny material. Sharpies use clear ink. It'll be like spraying a candy coat onto silver. Not something you want if your trying to cover them up. Unless the new inlay decal covers the entire thing, then it'll probably look okay from far away, but the closer you get, the more it'll look like shit. And honestly, the only reason your changing the inlays is for the up close look. So...
Maybe I'm wrong and they'll look awesome but, I'd have to see to believe before I went and tried it.

At least there's some good technical questioning going on in here. The most I've seen on this forum in awhile.

yes this is exactly my concern as well.
i think the marker will probably stay on the plastic, well at least with a permanent marker. And yes alcohol should take it off, but my guess is that the plastic will be porous enough, or at least chemical active enough to absorb some of the dye present in the marker.
The result being that most of it will come off, but a tiny residual amount remains, leaving a dull look to it. This may be able to be fixed with a very fine grade sand paper, but why go through the trouble???
I think the best solution in the really get a decal that covers the whole inlay. Or at least one with some brown or so in between the white to give it a real look (if that is possible.)

Does anyone know which paint should be used for painting the pickups?
Any info would be appreciated...;)

Well... I can't be sure about it, but I can offer what I know at least.
The following should get you, at least, semi-pro results.
The EMG's should be able to cut through any type of paint as long as it's not too thick, or contains metal. The kind you'd be working with shouldn't contain any. You want to go for Enamel or Lacquer. Doesn't matter what brand really, as long as you make sure they all match. You don't want to be spraying lacquer onto enamel, because... that's bad. :lol
You want a smooth surface for the decals to stick to, so you'd have to smooth out the surface of the EMG's first. You would just take some progressivly finer grade sand paper and smooth them out. You'd want to take it down to at least a 1000 grit so that its baby ass smooth before you paint it. Be sure to clean it afterwards to get all the dust off. Then, you'd spray it with some primer (as long as its grey or black, it doesn't matter who makes it, just pay attention to what kind it is. Enamel or lacquer because that effects the rest of what you buy). Wait a day at least for it to dry. After that, smooth it out with the a damp peice of sand paper (600 to a 1000 grit) and a few drips of water as needed to keep the surface moist. (Wet sanding we call it.) Clean it up. Spray it with some gloss black. Wait another day, then spray it with come gloss clear coat. If you did everything right and they're silky smooth, then after a couple of days, hit them up with some rubbing compound (automotive section) to shine them up. :hat
This is the way to do it, if you want them to look good and last. You could half ass it and just hit them with some Krylon Fusion gloss black and it might be okay, but if your putting them into a KH-2NT... I'd personaly go all it.:D
I know I didn't cover that too well, but you should get a general idea, and if you want to do it that way, then feel free to hit me up for more info.

Actually...you dont want to sand it with 1000 grit to paint it. Sand it 400 or 500 grit to rough it up, not to smooth it out, this gives the paint something to grab onto. 1000 grit is too fine, and the paint will fill in the scratches from 400 or 500 no problem. There is no need for primer on the pickups (plus if you do want to prime, then sand with 220/320....1000 is waaaayyyy to fine for primer). Just scuff them up with the 400/500 then put a few coats of black on them, let them dry, then sand them smooth with 600/800 (this is if you are you using spray cans, or single stage paint, if you are using base coat/clear coat, no need to sand just go straight to putting decals on) then put the decals on. Spray clear coat, enough coats to bury the decal in the clear. Then, after it dries, sand them flat with 1000/1200 and buff them so they are glossy. thats the way i would do it anyway......

Or you could do that...
I won't argue with the man who makes the decals. :lol
I go a bit overboard I suppose. A little OCD with my prep work. Though, primer is something I never skip. I get that shit smooth as silk so that my gloss coats have a mirror shine. The less imperfections early on, the better IMHO.

i coloured it out but it didn't work, so i just took the inlays off and used nail polish remover to get rid of the sharpie colour.
