The US models come with Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts now. I believe the Alexi-600 costs about 1000+ in US dollars. People say the Edwards Alexi Laiho signature series are better than the Alexi-600 and they cost about the same amount as the Alexi-600.

The Alexi-200 goes for around 300-400 on eBay.

Not all the US models come with blackouts, The Alexi 200 now comes with an ESP LH-301 pickup.

USA models = phail.

The USA models and Edwards all have their good and bad sides. I like the USA shape, but not the pinstripe style. The Edwards has the borderline pinstripes, which look better IMO, but the lower shorter horn just looks weird and makes the guitar look bulky. I have a Alexi LTD 200 and the Floyd doesn't give me problems. (they wouldn't put their name on a piece of shit)

Active pickups on the new models = Phail

I don't have the time or money to waste to change out batteries on the guitar when I've played for about 4 hours. A good quality passive pickup is all you need.

i agree with you abt the usa vs japanease models. i personally do like the pinstripes on the us model but the pink and black looks better. i wouldnt mind a pink pinstriped one that shares the style of the us models. but then again-thats just my opinion. and yeh-the alexi 200 isnt bad or such, just takes getting used to and if u take care of the guitar, it will do good. and ur right abt esp not putting their name on a piece of crap.

yeh the active pickups piss me off. lol i understand the better tone and stuff but changing batteries for every 4 hours of play time?i play that much WITH my amp on everyday. there are tonnes of amazing high output passive pickups that u can get in canada. i personally plan to change the pickup from the alexi 200 to a rockfield mafia or fatass. u can get em for like $50 bucks here:)

i need to get the money to get the white Edwards Scythe. it looks amazing. i almost had a chance to play an alexi-200 but the guy at the shop got pissed when i went to play it. how do the blackouts sound? i'm taking my guitar in tomorrow to have pickups put in it

Every 4 hours?

WTF?

I've had my ec1000 since september and my 9 volt is fine

You are thoroughly confused. With a 580 mAh (standard) 9V battery, two EMG pickups should drain a battery in about 1500 hours. They draw a tiny amount of current.

The Blackouts are amazing pickups, thy are by far the best ive ever played, and a set of Blackouts totally blows away the EMG Zakk Wylde set.

For the japanese vs US models, i previously owned the LTD Alexi 600, but i sold it and got myself an Edwards Sawtooth, and th be honest, the diffrence in playability, sustain and sound is: NONE!!! they are both amazing axes and there is no diffrence between them. you will be toattaly happy with them both.
Me personally liek the edwards better, cause i like the look of it, and finds it waaay more comfy tp play an unfinished neck :D

I dont like the US body shape so I will disagree but yeah, both are nice guitars, but if you can, save up a bit more and get a SV std.

In that case I apologize. :\ If it really isn't that bad, then I wouldn't mind an active pickup. There's a couple of stuff I would like to merge with the LTD 600 (pink signature) and the Edwards. Each has it's turn-ons and -offs for me. But that would mean that it would be a custom and therefor I would have to pay a RIDICULOUS amount of money for it. :| Maybe one day when I'm rolling in the dough... :hat

I got to agree with you. The 24th fret cutaway is much better than the original 22nd fret cutaway. Better access is better. No reason that should be frowned upon. Unless emptier can give a valid reason why it could be a bad thing... :\

I'm gonna have to say no on that one. Although they have a higher output than the EMG's, but sound wise..it depends on what you want. I have owned both, but for me the EMG's have that cold distinctive sound that I like more so than the Blackouts, because I didn't like that really warm sound that the Blackouts gave out.

LOL :rollin That's cool. I've got a 2007 model as well. The better cutaway I approve of. The pickups I'm not so sure about. I think EMG sounds better.

I like the Blackouts but not as much as the 81 or 85. The blackout gives a real muddy tone IMO, the 81 has a clearer tone with more attack and the 85 has a warm and crunchy sound. I think the H4's sound fine on the 2007 models.
