I'm not a fan of the EL84's because they're a little too bright for me, plus I like the saturation the 6L6's give me. I was thinking of getting a TT, could you convert it to take 6L6's instead of the EL84's?

nope, probably not...

or if you could, it would have to be HEAVILY modded by an experienced tech...

plus I like the saturation the 6L6's give me.

:confused: you don't want el84's so as to get saturation from 6L6's?
i get a lot more saturation out of el84's,
and el34's,

i find 6L6's and KT88's to have to go a lot louder to saturate.

jme.

you should try the tiny terror thru a cab similar to your own, at the store, to see if it's what you want or not, before thinking it may not be based on specs, or reviews.

i am wanting to play one sometime myself.

but if you're dead set on certain tubes then go for another amp.

if you want to experiment with various power tubes, look at the THD Flexi50, it has a lot of capabilities.
i'm curious about that amp myself.

....but i am SO getting a Splawn Nitro next.

simple answer: no

for one power
second, the actual pattern on el84's is more of that of a preamp tube rather than the larger bases on the el34, 6l6's.

way to many things would proabably have to be redesigned to get that to work, at that point the money spent would have to be redunkulous.

IMO of course.

I dont think it'd be that big a deal to mod it.... but pricey..yes

just have to change a few resistors, the power tube sockets, and the output transformer....

$100 in parts, more in labor :)

well I tried the Rocker 30 head through a 2x12 orange cab and the sound was just too bright for me, had a british hard rock tone, which I'm not a fan of. The guy that was helping said the Rocker 30 head sounds almost the same as the TT, but the Rocker 30 gives you more EQ adjustment though of course.

sounds like you don't really want an orange in the first place...

Yeah if you want an american sounding amp... get one

the TT could be switching to 6V6 tubes alot easier than 6L6 tubes..just new sockets and a few resistors.

I like the 7W/15W tube design, plus it's simple and not too expensive

tell ya what, i'll build you a tube amp similiar with 6V6s with a similiar wattage...

The Rocker 30 is identical to the Tiny Terror but with an EQ. The EL84s really saturate it, so I'm a bit lost as to why you want more saturation or how you will get them with 6L6s? More saturation will just cause mud IMO.

I'm with PRP though, you might not be pleased with Orange as much as I am. And cost wise, you're paying more than $500 for a 15/7watt head.

You might want to check out a THD univalve for a high gain/low watt tube. They rule!

i'd still be curious to see a TT loaded iwth 6V6s

Went to a local music store last night and the Rocker 30 has EL34's. Do the 84's in the TT sound that much different?

I personally think they sound WAY different....

Are there any YellowJackets that'd fit a TT?

Sandman... 84s rip. No questions asked.
