the neck is great...slides very good...the only thing that bothers me is that when a ordered it the ESP site said that the guitar had spretzel tuner...and mine doesn't....i just went to check and the site changed it to Grover tuners...anyway I love this ax and anyone who thinks about getting one should!!

humm If it was mine I will spray all over it some transparent painting.
Maybe blue or purple, not covering the wood ,just giving it some color .
But that's just my taste .

What does the Emg 60 sound like in the neck? I've played the 85 on my friends viper and I was just wondering how they compare.

I've only played the EX400 and I really liked the neck on that one!

sweet dude nice buy, hows the balance on that thing?

Thrashman
09-26-2007, 02:36 PM
I bet its the same as the EX's, neck heavy as hell, so better get a wider strap and move the strapbutton, so that it is at the neck heel..

tallicag20
09-26-2007, 06:13 PM
it does neck dive a little but i just put my right arm on the tail of the body and its ok...
i bet if i bought another better strap it wouldn't dive

takesnogutz666
09-26-2007, 07:22 PM
damn... if i moved the strap button to the neck heel would it halt the dive completely?

tallicag20
09-26-2007, 07:32 PM
probably but i'm not the one to tell you where to put the new strap button...and personally i wouldnt move the SB on a new guitar like this one...id like to keep it like it is...

Metfuk

I'm pretty sure it would.
But if you don't want to move it yet...try one of those straps that are rough on the inner side so that it won't slip over your shoulder.

The balance isnt really that bad, since I had mine I've gotten real used to it and it dont bother me one bit. A better strap does help though. Plus I think all explorers look better with the strap button where its at. Behind the neck looks kinda funny and feels weird.

That one is pretty sweet! I've got one on the way, should be here tomorrow or Mon. I hope the top looks that good.

I think I will never get used to a neck heavy guitar. It's so annoying! Luckily I don't own a neck heavy guitar now.
I do agree with the strap location for Explorers. Even though I own 2 Gibson Explorers with the strap buttons at the back. They do provide a good balance but it makes the guitar front heavy.
So I guess a rough strap is the only way to go if you have your strap button on the the classic Explorer position (a la FX series).
