i tried the pink laiho at my local dealer... that little switch has a whole different game to it.... you can basically dial in a eq setting using the 4 band eq in the cavity, its like have 2 channels in one guitar... i highly recommend it... blows the emg pa2 outta water... finally a boost that has control over tone... do they sell this separately? would love this in my "almost here" edwards cy165ctm

you can get ESP and Edwards alexi models off ebay with the mm04 already in there , for like $100 more .
Yea but the amp is acitve that means it uses a batery, since alexi has HZ-H4 its passiv witch active shit man...
I think its to much mony you can geth Gotoh amp for like 25€ and a black ice for 15€

the mm-04 is pretty much the same thing as the old Jackson je-1000 booster. which alexi used with a Jackson j50-bc pickup

WTF is the point of having a passive pickup with an active booster!?!
Alexi was always saying he didn't like active pickups, so he used the HZ's with an active boost(which doesn't make any sense) , and now he switches to blackouts which ARE active...
psh. why must the talented be so foolish....

umm he never used the HZ's. he has always used 81's

That's ok, tons of people have the mistake of thinking that he uses EMG 81's, but I guess the HZ's sound swell enough for people to get them both mixed up.

I think Alexi has the right to do what he WANTS gear-wise. And he only uses one blackout in his sawtooth axe.

Dude how does that not make sense? The boost needs a power supply to drive it, it's not a pickup.

okey doke ;]
I was mal-informed. Someone previously told me that it just increases output. ;)

I'm pretty sure with the blackout in his Sawtooth, he doesn't use the gain booster. But what Alexi needs to do is pick up a second hand Jackson JE50 pickup somewhere and get his old tone from Hatebreeder, FTR and HCDR back :P

that would be impossible, it would be breaching his contract with Seymour Duncan

uhhh i think he used passive pickups with a active pre amp or whatever its called , because the mm04 preamp thing works best with the passive pickups

The preamp booster is just like taking the preamp out of the actual amp your running through and installing it in the guitar. Even though thats the only place it vould be cause you have go through the pickup firste.
Basically his set up is simple. pickup to booster to amp.

What?? I'm 99% certain he has EMG HZ in his Jacksons in the first place! And what do you mean his "tone" from the early albums? The differences in sound on different albums are due to the production.

Well from what i saw if you watch the passage to reaper video it says jackson on the pickup on his guitar, or most of any of his guitar lessons back during that period
