I have recently changed my mind from buying a Gibson X-plorer to getting an ESP KH-602 =D. I am just wondering about the tremolo. I have never had a guitar with the bar, but when my friend bought an Ibanez RG4EXQM1 with tremolo, every time he used the bar it detuned and he had to constantly retune it. I've heard that there is locking and free floating tremolo and I don't know which was on his Ibanez or what either means. I am just wondering if I'll have any problems like this with the KH-602. Also, what are the differences in the ESP KH-2 and the LTD KH-602?
My friend also had a problem with keeping it tuned and when he had it tuned, the tremolo stayed raised up...and someone posted about this same tremolo problem on Musiciansfriend. I am so concerned because I can't return it if I order it and open it and don't like it.

The KH2 can either be an ESP custom shop model, which you have to order and the custom shop would make one for you (or any custom shop model that the dealer has in stock)...
Or the KH2 can be the signature series, a non custom shop ESP...
There are the ESP KH2 neck thru custom shop, ESP KH2 bolt on custom shop, or signature series (equivalent to the standard series) KH2 neck thru...
The LTD-KH602 of course as you may know is a Korean made signature guitar...
The difference would be very evident I hope for your sake when you have them side by side, go for a more expensive model if you can...
And if the KH602 you are ordering comes with an OFR which it should, it will stay in tune well...
Cheaper Floyds don't hold tunings very well...

If you have changed strings on the guitar to a different gauge then the tremolo would rise because the string tension is greater than the equalling spring tension in the back of the guitar.
You have to remember for a floyd to be set-up properly, the string tension has to be equal to the spring tension. If the bridge is sitting high in the air then open up the back and slowly tighten the springs in the back of the guitar. Bear in mind to loosen the strings first as they could break as you are tightening. Tighten the springs until the bridge is level with the body then tune up again and repeat.
A like gauge to like gauge change shouldnt cause many problems, but if you are changing gauge or even tuning then you have to set it up properly with the springs in the back.

My 602 is awsome I have had absolutly no problems with it. After I bought it it did a little detuning due to string streching but now it barely ever needs to be even slightly tuned. The bridge is after all an origional floyd rose. awsome guitar though like i said I love it as for the bridge leaning outward or inward thats only a Very minor adjustment which can happen with all floyds.

Many of the problems you encounter on a Floyd Rose are similar to any other tremolo unit in the market...
Just the way all tremolos work...

alright so i would just have to open the back and tighten the springs?
I'll be sure to get the warranty with it, incase I am not satisfied, which I doubt i will be unsatisfied

if you dont like changing strings, get elixer antirust strings, they usually last 3 months for me
ive had mine on since july and they just started rusting

Changing strings isn't a problem for me, I just want to have my thin strings(idk what gauge =/ ) But I like using them thin so I can bend better and I just gotta make sure I keep the bridge level with the body like you guys said. I found a used KH2 on ebay for the price of the KH602, but I'm not sure, I asked the dude for more pictures.
