View Full Version : LTD ID / Used Guitar Ebay Question

My oldest son (11) has expressed interest in learning guitar. I have an ESP so I looked at ESP's on ebay to see if any good deals are to be had. I know kids, I was one once, and sometimes they don't stick with things that they think they'd like to try. So, picking up a used guitar on ebay seems a good way to go.

My first question is did this EC actually come in silver or is this a bad repaint:

Second question is does anyone have any experience buying the low end starter guitars on ebay or another auction site? What should I be looking at for a final price. It seems just from a quick look that 100 series LTD's can be had for $20-50 plus shipping. Is that about right?

Yeah its original.



I would guesstimate it going in the $120-150 range, considering no case. Maybe a little less. Shipping should not be more than $35-45. I would imagine it would make a great starter. Good luck.

I couldnt say it any better than he did. My father was worried about the same thing when I first picked up bass. I would play his Rickenbacker, but he was worried I might do something to make it explode. So he got me an Ibanez GIO series bass. I loved it.

Eventually I got good with it, and moved on to LTD where the quality was better. I loved that beginner bass, and I'm sure your son will love the beginner Eclipse.

+1 again. 100 series LTD's are good starter guitars, and even for intermediate players they will do what is required of them. After 7 years, I just sold my MH 100 .... certainly reliable and worth the initial payment.

to answer your first question, yes the silver paint is original. i don't think they make them in that color anymore. but i'm about 99% positive that the ec100 was offered in that color a couple years back.

Have you checked out the Ibanez Mikro. under $200 brand new.
